2K Games Tackles Da Vinci Code Game

2K Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., announced an exclusive worldwide agreement with Sony Pictures Consumer Products to publish and distribute current generation console videogames based on the THE DA VINCI CODE film by Oscar-winning director Ron Howard, which is based on Dan Brown's bestselling novel.

The games are being developed by The Collective, a division of Foundation 9 Ent. Timed to coincide with the film release date, THE DA VINCI CODE games are expected to be available in May 2006.

EA Says Cowabunga to Simpsons Gaming Rights

Electronic Arts, Twentieth Century Fox Television and Gracie Films announced a long-term deal that grants EA development rights to multiple videogame titles based on the FOX hit series THE SIMPSONS. Working closely with the television studios Licensing and Merchandising division, show producers Gracie Films and THE SIMPSONS writers, EA will create original SIMPSONS game content for next generation videogame systems. This deal between Fox and EA is the first development deal between these two entities. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Nicktoons Characters Unite for THQ Videogame

THQ Inc. and Nickelodeon announced NICKTOONS UNITE! for the PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance has shipped to retail outlets throughout North America. NICKTOONS UNITE! allows players to interact with the stars from some of the most popular Nickelodeon TV shows, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Timmy Turner (from THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS), Jimmy Neutron and Danny Phantom.

Frederator Studios Launches Channel Frederator for Cartoon Podcasts

Frederator Studios founder Fred Seibert has launched Channel Frederator, the world's first cartoon video podcast created expressly for distribution of world-class content on portable video devices, such as the Apple iPod and the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP).

Episodes released weekly will contain several shorts from original and vintage cartoons submitted by producers from around the world, packaged into 10- to 15-minute episodes by the Channel Frederator programming team.

In celebration of Halloween, a new Flash movie CLIMATE MASH ( has hit the Net, exposing the zombies and vampires of global warming denial. This take on the song "Monster Mash" was recorded by original "Monster Mash" artist Bobby "Boris" Pickett. Clear the Air, the sponsors of the CLIMATE MASH, said a much higher than expected 99,704 unique visitors viewed the Flash movie 117,866 times since it first went online on Oct. 18.

THQ Ships First Multiplayer SpongeBob Game

THQ Inc. announced that SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS: LIGHTS, CAMERA, PANTS! has shipped for PlayStation 2, Xbox, Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance and Windows PC. LIGHTS, CAMERA, PANTS! is the first multiplayer game in the SPONGEBOB series.

"THQ's SPONGEBOB-branded videogames have shipped more than 10 million units worldwide," said Kelly Flock, evp of worldwide publishing, THQ. Disneys CHICKEN LITTLE videogames are now available at retail outlets across North America. For each mission, players learn to master an arsenal of gadgets, including bottle rocket jet packs, slingshots, yo-yos, cannons, hover boards and an alien suit to get the characters out of sticky situations (alien invasions, spiraling asteroids, corn field mazes, etc). Players will master 21 levels that capture key movie moments and environments, even extending the experience into outer space.

Perky Pickle Studios previously worked on the hit game, CRASH: TWINSANITY. This time around, Perky Pickle partnered with Vancouver-based developer Radical Ent. to produce the expansion of the franchise.
