IBM Delivers Power-based Chip for Microsoft Xbox 360 Launch

At Fall Processor Forum in San Jose, California, IBM announced that the custom designed microprocessor built for Microsoft's Xbox 360 console is in production at the company's East Fishkill, New York, fab and at Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing in Singapore. Together, IBM and Chartered's common platform offers Microsoft a unique dual-source capability that provides the highest level of manufacturing redundancy and flexibility.

THQ Ships First Multiplayer SpongeBob Game

THQ Inc. announced that SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS: LIGHTS, CAMERA, PANTS! has shipped for PlayStation 2, Xbox, Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance and Windows PC. LIGHTS, CAMERA, PANTS! is the first multiplayer game in the SPONGEBOB series.

"THQ's SPONGEBOB-branded videogames have shipped more than 10 million units worldwide," said Kelly Flock, evp of worldwide publishing, THQ. "We are thrilled with the success of the video games and are excited to offer a brand new SPONGEBOB experience that now allows both families and friends to play together."

Chicken Little Videogames Now Available

Disneys CHICKEN LITTLE videogames are now available at retail outlets across North America. For each mission, players learn to master an arsenal of gadgets, including bottle rocket jet packs, slingshots, yo-yos, cannons, hover boards and an alien suit to get the characters out of sticky situations (alien invasions, spiraling asteroids, corn field mazes, etc). Players will master 21 levels that capture key movie moments and environments, even extending the experience into outer space.

EA & Steven Spielberg to Develop Three Original Videogames

In a groundbreaking long-term agreement, Electronic Arts Inc. announced that Academy Award-winner Steven Spielberg will be collaborating with the game makers at EA's Los Angeles studio (EALA) to create three new original franchise properties. Beginning this year, with offices located on site at EALA, Spielberg will work directly with EA's development teams to offer his signature style of storytelling to the concept, design, story and artistic visualization of the new games.

Perky Pickle Studios has wrapped on the development and design for Vivendi-Universal Interactives CRASH BANDICOOT: TAG TEAM RACING. Due out Oct. 18, on Xbox, Game Cube, PlayStation 2 and PSP, this latest outing finds the bandicoot in a pedal to the metal racing brawl. Perky Pickle Studios previously worked on the hit game, CRASH: TWINSANITY. This time around, Perky Pickle partnered with Vancouver-based developer Radical Ent. to produce the expansion of the franchise.
