Nachtvlinders / Nocturnal Butterflies (1998)

""Nachtvlinders" ("Nocturnal Butterflies") marks the return of "Servaisgraphy" and will become its first real application. The use of this technique gives a touch that is sensibly different from the digital encrustation technique- which justifies it. Rendering some of Delvaux' paintings scrupulously on the screen, he molds them to match his own purposes. "Nocturnal Butterflies" is a pertinent tribute to Delvaux' work. This latency, quiet evocation of what is not said, leaves a broad margin to interpret the film, with its new hazy, blurred effect and this form which at the same time is close to Delvaux' paintings and yet very personal. "Nachtvlinders" won the Grand Prix and the Prix de la Critique at the Annecy Festival n 1998."
