Screenplay, animation and production of ABRACADABRA, in collaboration with Graeme Ross. Submitted to animated film festival, Annecy, France; also for Danube award in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia and at the workshop on youth programs at European Broadcasting Union in Copenhagen. This film was sold to 9 foreign networks: in Holland, Sweden, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Monte-Carlo, Finland, Scotland and National Education Television in United States.


1971

Screenplay, animation and production of INON OU LA CONQUETE DU FEU, music by Jean Cousineau.


1972

Animated short film conceived by Frédéric Back on theme of the French CBC TV Network's twenty years of drama and comedy series. This special program "20 ans déjà" was produced by Maurice Dubois and telecast on "Les Beaux Dimanches", December 24.


1973

Scenario, drawings and production of LA CREATION DES OISEAUX, music by Pierre F. Brault. This film won the first honourable mention at the Bratislava Festival of Children's Programs. It also won the Grand Prize for animated film at the International Film Festival of Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

1975

ILLUSION second prize at Bratislava Festival in Czechoslovakia, in September.


1976

Production of animation sequences for Stravinsky's ballet "L'oiseau de feu", produced by Jean-Yves Landry, telecast on "Les Beaux Dimanches", on the French CBC Network in Montéal January 13 and September 7, 1980. This program wins the "Prague d'Or 1980" medal and the Emmy Award 1980 in New York.

1991

"CRAC !" is awarded the "Prix du public" at the 30th anniversary of the Festival d'Annecy celebrated in June 1991. The competition included the best animated films of the Festival's last thirty years.

"CRAC !" wins first prize in the short animated film category at the fourth international children's film festival held in Bogota, Columbia in June 1991.

Frédéric Back wins the Prix Albert Tessier. The prize is awarded by the Ministère des Affaires culturelles du Québec to a Québec filmmaker who has made a significant contribution to the promotion of QuÉbÉcois cinema internationally.


1992

In April, Frédéric Back earns the excellence award from the Ministère des Communautés culturelles et de l'Immigration du Québec. The prize was awarded for his contribution to the integration of cultural activities in Québec society.


1993

"LE FLEUVE AUX GRANDES EAUX" (The Mighty River) wins the Grand Prix at the International Animation Film Festival held in Annecy, June 1-6.

"LE FLEUVE AUX GRANDES EAUX" (The Mighty River) wins the Special Jury Prize, Golden Butterfly at the International Festival of films for Children and Young Adults in Isfahan, Iran.

"THE MAN WHO PLANTED TREES" wins Le Castor d'or for the best short animated film for the Festival du film Québécois, Morteau, France in Novembre 1993.

"LE FLEUVE AUX GRANDES EAUX" (The Mighty River) wins the Prize for best animated film in the 10 to 40 minutes category at Cinanima in Espinho, Portugal.

"LE FLEUVE AUX GRANDES EAUX" (The Mighty River) wins the Prize for human value at the International Ecological Film Festival, Canary Islands, Spain.


1994
