Question about Animation and education...

Good morning all, I have a question that I have been battering around for a little while. I am looking to get into animation. More specifically, I want to get into 3D computer/game animation. I have downloaded the free versions of Maya and 3DS Max, and have played around with them a little bit. I have done some research, and it seems that any online animation degree is relatively expensive. I have also noticed that many people recommend using digital tutors, or a program such as this to learn animation. My question is this: would I be able to get into the animation business if I were to complete a BA in Graphic Design, and use a tool such as digital tutors to learn animation?
