Staying on model

Just wondering if you guys had any tips. A lot of freelance stuff has me drawing preexisting characters and mascots and I sometimes have a hard time shaking off my own personal style. I almost never get model sheets and have 1 or 2 reference images to work from.

If you are working on paper, stick them under the drawing so you can flip back and forth. If working digitally, say in Photoshop, place them as a faded layer underneath the layer you are working on to refer to.

Man, that's really great advice! I would have never thought of doing that.
