Congratulations to Bill Plympton for finally wi---oh, wait.
Yes, congrats to Brad and the whole Pixar team. It was interesting to see Edna as a presenter too, especially when his acceptance voice was still fresh in my mind.
Congrats to Brad Bird for directing and writing the best animated feature of the year.
Congrats to John Landreth for RYAN.
Too bad ABC was so time conscious.

I wasn't surprised by the results but I was surprised by the new way the academy is presenting some nominations. I was dissappointed the Best Animated Short was presented from the aisle and with no clip preview. At least they could have treated the same way as Best Documentary or Best Live Action Short with all the nominees on stage and the clips on those cool floor screens... but well, maybe it's just me

can't believe plympton lost. kinda bummed about that. he is very deserving and his film is really, really good.
maybe we should start referring him to as the scorcese of animation!
or maybe it's a bias against new york filmmakers?
I think he might've lost out not being "the hot topic." But that's not to say what is in the spotlight doesn't have a reason for being there.
As much as I like Bill and his work, he never really stood a chance. "Ryan" is exactly the kind of "meaningful, message" film that the Academy likes to reward. "Guard Dog" is funny and well done, but against a "message" film, especially one about a filmmaker fallen on hard times, it never had a prayer.
That takes nothing away from "Ryan" either. While not exactly my cup of tea, it was well done and evocative.
No suprise there :D Congrats Mr. Bird!!
