The Los Angeles Professional Chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH presents “Stereo 3D Essentials: Capture to Conversion”.   Four key subjects will be covered - stereo capture, stereo editing, stereo compositing, and stereo 3D conversion.  Featured speakers are: James Neihouse, IMAX stereographer and DP; Steve Wright, 20 year VFX veteran and master Nuke trainer; and Jonathan Karafin, Director of Production Operations for Digital Domain’s new stereography department in Florida.

The award winning IMAX cinematographer James Neihouse will start the evening by presenting the theory of stereo filmmaking to build an understanding of the process and terminology. He will describe the filming process, then follow up with the issues involved with editing stereo. Steve Wright, 20 year veteran of VFX compositing, will demonstrate stereo compositing for visual effects using Nuke, then a tour of Ocula, The Foundry’s tool kit for fixing problems encountered with capturing stereo footage. Jonathan Karafin, from Digital Domain’s 3D stereo conversion facility in Florida will share his years of experience at converting 2D features to 3D. The moderator, Marty Shindler, a leading business and financial consultant for the entertainment industry will share his perspectives on the future business climate and current job opportunities.

FEE / REGISTRATION:
Admittance is free to members of the Los Angeles Chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH and the Visual Effects Society. Non-members may attend and pay a $ 20.00 visitor registration fee. Anyone who joins the Los Angeles Chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH onsite at this event and pays the $ 40.00 annual membership fee, (cash or check only), will not have to pay the $ 20.00 visitor registration fee.

ANIMA2013 will take place in the city of Córdoba, Argentina, from October 10th through 12th, 2013. This seventh edition of Argentina's most relevant animation festival will be dedicated to exploring the relationship between animation and the other arts.

The Festival is open for short and feature animation films of every genre and topic, including school productions. Participation is open for animation shorts from all over the world - produced for film, television, video or the Internet - with special interest in those from Latin America.
