Then the Cartoon Forum is the place where you will spot the best brands and discover the latest trends in European animation. The Cartoon Forum is neither a fair nor a festival, but rather a European co-production forum for TV and new platform animation programmes. For three days each year, European producers have the opportunity to pitch their animation project in front of decision-makers, buyers and investors in order to speed up financing and find cross-border partners. The highly professional yet very friendly atmosphere makes it easier to consolidate commercial links, meet new contacts, and deal with all aspects of partnerships - whether commercial or artistic - at leisure. On average, one project presented at Cartoon Forum out of three secures financing and enters into production.

We are pleased to announce that starting today we are open to your submissions for the 8-th World Festival of Animated Film in the city of Varna. The final deadline for your application is 5-th of June 2012.

Submission is free.

The World Festival of Animated Film, once a biannual event, will now be held annually and it’s next edition will take place from 10th to 15th of September 2012 in the Festival and Congress Center in Varna. In the rapidly changing world of animation, a two year interval between festival editions seems like a lifetime, so the organizers, with the support of the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture and Varna Municipality, decided that from now on, the World Festival of Animated Film will be held every year. This gives the opportunity for the audience always to be on the very edge of animation and at the same time it will keep the festival interesting and fresh.

In other exciting news, it is our privilege to announce a new award that will be handed out for the first time this year – Award for best comedy short film in the name of Donyo Donev.

We are excited to announce that starting today we are open to your submissions for the 8-th World Festival of Animated Film in the city of Varna. The final deadline for your application is 5-th of June 2012.

Please read the Regulations thoroughly before you start filling in the Entry Form. There you can find information on how to prepare your films for submission, what are the technical requirements, the categories of participation and detailed information about the selection process.

Event for Independent Comic Book Artists and Writers in the Los Angeles area.
This event is for creators at all stages of their craft wanting to meet others seeking collaborators, work-for-hire or partners.

It is a great networking opportunity for both writers and artists interested in independently created comic books.
In attendance will also be a managing editor for a comic book news site, to answer questions regarding promotions and publishing.

We like our films short, sweet ... and silent!

The Toronto Urban Film Festival (TUFF) returns for a sixth year to digital platform screens across the Toronto subway system, September 7 - 17, 2012, concurrent with the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Named one of MovieMaker Magazine's "20 Coolest Film Festivals" (2010), TUFF is a 10-day long celebration of the art of the urban silent screen. TUFF films screen on the Pattison Onestop network of digital platform screens to over 1.3 million daily commuters.

Filmmakers, video artists and animators are invited to submit their work to TUFF now at http://www.torontourbanfilmfestival.com

The festival accepts all genres of silent, one-minute film, video and animation that are of interest to a cosmopolitan audience.

Submission deadline is July 15, 2012. Submit free before May 31, 2012. After June 1, 2012 a $20 fee will apply.

TUFF is open to Canadian and international artists, and awards thousands of dollars in cash and prizes. Animation prizes include softward from Toon Boom Animation. 

TUFF is co-produced by Pattison Onestop and Art for Commuters.

Q & A: Disney Director George Scribner

An intimate conversation with a member of that exclusive group of people that have directed a Disney Feature film, as well as worked on other Disney classics. Scribner has many insights into the process of making a feature film and working with some of Disney's most talented artists such as Glen Keane and Joe Ranft. He is also a Director of Animation for Disney's Imagineering.

Just as importantly he also offers guidance into building a long term career in the field, with a path that includes television animation as well as the exclusive fold of the Imagineers.

A local high school grad, George is grateful for the people in Jacksonville that inspired him.

Held in space that resembles an oversized Chicago loft, Underbelly's is the perfect place to have an informative Q&A as well as a fun space to connect with other like-minded people in the area.
