Starts: Jun 24, 2003 - Ends: Jun 27, 2003
Submission Deadline: Jun 24, 2003
Location: San Diego, California, USA
Website: http://www.usipv6.com
The North American IPv6 Global Summit, is taking place June 24-27, 2003 in San Diego, at the California State University of San Diego.
The next generation of the Internet (also known as Internet Protocol version 6 - the old Internet is version 4) will profoundly affect companies involved in online gaming, in telecommunications or in other heavy online traffic such as multimedia presentations. The new Internet will spawn a generation of opportunities, including jobs and yet-to-be-invented new classes of products.

The conference should be of interest to IT students and professionals, security specialists, network engineers and producers of hardware/software for servers.

The conference is sponsored by an elite group of technology giants, including Qualcomm, Cisco, HP, Nokia, NEC, Hitachi and Wind River. Keynote speakers include John Osterholz, Director of Architecture and Interoperability for the Department of Defense, Jawad Khaki, Vice President of Windows Networking for Microsoft, Larry Smarr, Director of the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology, and Alex Lightman, CEO of Charmed Technology and author of Brave New Unwired World.

Switching over to the new technology has already been mandated by companies such as Sony, and by U.S. government agencies such as the Department of Defense. The new Internet has many major benefits, including built-in security, support for mobile platforms (including the ability to "roam" anywhere on the globe), more robust transmission (it transmits much larger chunks of data) and the availability of billions of new Internet addresses.

University support has enabled the conference to be especially affordable, at $279 for industry or $79 for students/government - special discounts are available for anyone reserving space before June 15. Information may be found on the conference website at www.usipv6.com.
