5D GOES TO THE 2012 BERLINALE TALENT FESTIVALFEBRUARY 13TH BERLIN, GERMANY
The 5D Institute is excited to announce, for our second year, a unique event at the Berlin Film Festival. In partnership with the Berlinale Talent Campus, 5D will curate a panel discussion and masterclass on the nature of design process and the practice of world building for digital narrative media.After the success of the 5D ”Play as Process” panel and workshop at the 2011 Berlinale Talent Campus, the 5D Institute will again be part of the Talent Campus, curating 2 panels for the 2012 edition.

This illustrious panel of designers and artists will explain how screenwriters, filmmakers, designers and producers can create unique visual worlds as the settings for their films.  Our world is the product of millennia of visionary designs, inventions, and creations by imaginative thinkers who have envisioned the possibilities beyond the limits of current reality. Designers who are tasked with creating entirely new worlds and alternate universes must be able to think freely and into the unknown in order to imagine and render these narrative worlds. The discussion will connect a holistic conception of immersive design to a new process of creative collaboration, using the powerful link between the digital workspace, a non-linear work flow, and a new understanding of virtual production.

SIGGRAPH Asia 2011 will be held from 12 to 15 December at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

After successful runs in Singapore, Japan and South Korea, the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) brings digital innovations from around the globe to Hong Kong, in Asia’s biggest gathering of artists, designers, researchers, scientists, manufacturers and developers.

Over four days, the computer graphics and interactive techniques communities in Hong Kong and the world over will have the opportunity to interact and discover the best innovations, ideas and inventions from top names in the digital arena.

About eDIT 14 Filmmaker’s Festival

As a filmmakers’ platform the eDIT Filmmaker's Festival promotes the exchange of information about innovations and the tips and tricks of filmmaking.

International filmmakers use their most recent productions to discuss filmmaking in the digital era.

The festival programme consists of workshops, presentations, screenings and fringe events. Central themes are camerawork, animation, visual effects, editing and production.

The social highlight of the event is the opening gala, during which outstanding filmmakers are presented with Festival Honors.

The event for up-coming talent, eDIT: eDucation, provides information on work and careers in the film and media industry.

eDward – The Young Filmmaker’s Award is directed at filmmakers under the age of 30.

Best of Film Festival presents a selection of award-winning films from international festivals.

The Festival Party offers excellent entertainment and opportunities for networking.

The website filmmakersfestival.de provides a thematic platform for exchanging ideas on filmmaking in the digital era. The online magazine presents interviews and contributions that go beyond the scope of the festival.

VIEW Conference is the premiere international event in Italy on Computer Graphics, Interactive Techniques, Digital Cinema, 3D Animation, Gaming and VFX.

VIEWFest, the italian evolution of Resfest, the successful global touring digital film festival, is not a festival like any other. It doesn’t have a mere spatial location, rather, it is a knot in a net.

motion is our annual event. Hundreds of brilliant minds – pros in the film, broadcast, and game industries – all coming together to share unique ideas that revolutionize the industry, change the way they look at their work and serve as inspiration for one another.

It all starts off with motionfest (10.9.11) – our pre-conference event where you’ll experience a full-day of rapid-fire tips, tricks, and technique sessions.

Then at motion, (10.10.11-10.11.11) we’ll take you on a mind-bending two day ride – what we refer to as the 'TED talks' of our industry. motion speakers are the top creative thinkers and innovators in motion graphics, animation, and vfx. A concept borrowed from TED, each speaker is on stage for 20 minutes giving the talk of their life on subjects they’re passionate about. Talks that revolutionize the industry. Talks that revitalize the creative muse.

The audience becomes a integral player in the motion experience. Utilizing the latest technology, participants are encouraged to join in the open discussions provided after each segment. It’s their turn to share their expertise and insight in this process of innovation.

Night time is all about reconnecting with peers and meeting new friends – on neutral turf. It’s a remarkable opportunity to actually get to know your competition. Sure – you’ve met on the ‘battlefield’, pitching to win the next major project. Córdoba International Animation Festival - ANIMA, is both an academic and cultural event, devoted specifically to animation in its artistic and technological dimensions. ANIMA merges the energy, enthusiasm and joy of an Animation Festival with the scientific aspects of a Conference. Held every odd year since 2001, ANIMA is the main animation event in Argentina and a very influential player in its field in Latin America and the Caribbean.

 

ANIMA is no ordinary event. Its main objective is to gather creative individuals devoted to the art and craft of animation into a meeting point where all discussion and exchange can be directed into the scope of animation, in its many dimensions of analysis: as artistic expression, as cultural industry, as educational resource, as corpus for research, etc… Or just as fun!

The Festival is open to animation films of every genre, topic, format and screening media (film, video, television, Internet). Special interest is granted to those works where the filmmaker’s expressive intention stands out from marketing requirements; and also to school productions. Participation is open for artists all over the world, with special interest in those from Latin America. There is no limit in the number of works an author can send, but a separate Entry Form must be completed for each work, and shipping instructions must be respected.

There is no entry fee.

The Visual Effects Society (VES), the world's premiere visual effects organization, announced today that it will hold its third annual Production Summit for the greater entertainment industry on October 1st. Production Summit 2011 – Trending the Global Marketplace: You Are Here -- will gather leading executives, creatives, technologists and visionaries to discuss and examine the impact of globalization and the opportunities and challenges it presents the entertainment industry. The event will bring together the production community for a day of conversation, collaboration and inspiration. Practitioners from all crafts are invited to join together to engage in discussion regarding the very active 24/7 global world in which we currently reside. The one-day event will be held at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills.

DMC International is an international competition to promote the innovative uses of new media technologies for the digital audiovisual content and art works. DMC International values a critical perspective on contemporary developments in media, and it focuses on the projects for future media environment, where media, art and technology intersect.

KGIT, in conjunction with Seoul City and media industries in DMC, is organizing ‘DMC International’ and hoping to establish the global community.
