47th San Francisco International Film Festival

The San Francisco International Film Festival, committed to celebrating the art of the moving image, has presented the best in world cinema since 1957. Now, the 15-day festival presents 200 films from 50 countries and reaches an engaged audience of nearly 95,000 with screenings in San Francisco, Berkeley and Palo Alto. The festival highlights current trends in international film and video production with an emphasis on work that has not yet secured U.S. distribution. First features by emerging filmmakers are eligible for the SKYY Prize, which includes a $10,000 cash award and was established in 1997 by the Festival and premier sponsor SKYY Vodka to recognize a director whose film exhibits a unique artistic sensibility. The Golden Gate Awards is the competitive section for documentaries, shorts, animation, experimental, youth-produced, and television works. Juries award cash prizes ranging up to $5,000 in 10 of the 14 categories. The winning short film automatically qualifies for an entry into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science

4K Screening of The Da Vinci Code

As part of the 2006 Digital Screening Series, the Entertainment Technology Center at USC is hosting a 4K screening of THE DA VINCI CODE. Mastered at 4K, THE DA VINCI CODE will be the first film to be exhibited at 4K at the Digital Cinema Lab. The religious thriller will be shown with a projector from Sony Electronics. The screening will be following by a panel discussion with Sony Pictures executives about the challenges and lessons learned during the postproduction, mastering and projection process. Armed with the highest quality digital picture and sound capabilities, the DCL theatre enables the entertainment and technology communities to experience digital presentation at its best.

4th Istanbul International Animation Festival

At first, in 2002, university student founded. And then it has been organized in 2003. In 2004, student organized the festival again. Then IAF and Turkish Cartoon Foundation combined to organize the festival. First two festivals were national with Turk animators. The third one has international films and competitors. And this year we are organizing 4th Istanbul International Animation Festival.

Festival have two section. One of sections is workshops and conferences. Professional animators and special effect artists tell animation industry and some experiences. Second section of festival is a competition. Istanbul Animation and Special Effect Short Film Competition appliance open for everybody. Therefore we can see Turkish animations, and young animators were encouraged.
