CATNAP returns to it's monthly meeting schedule after a brief summer hiatus with a presentation by Marc Vulcano, former director of animation for Big Idea Productions. Marc will speak on the subject of "Character Animation, How to Make Your Work Believable". Drawing on his many years of experience in the animation business he will address the character animator's approach, philosophy, responsibilities and priorities in the creation of exceptional animation. This program is a must-see for any serious animator, and is free and open to the public. The meeting begins at 1:00 pm.

The October meeting of CATNAP will focus on the topics of Clean-up/Tween Painting/Paint Layouts as part of an ongoing lecture series that follows the animation production process. Meetings include time to network and screen work. There will be updates on member and group projects, including the CATNAP promo. Meetings begin at 1 pm, and are free and open to the public. YOW Animation is a new group for animators in the Ottawa/Hull region. The first meeting will be on Tuesday, November 18th at 8 p.m. at The Fox and Feather Pub (Fox Room #2, second floor) at 283 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Canada. The meeting is open to commercial and independent animators. Bring your ideas of what you'd like the group to do, meet some new friends, and join in some animated conversations.

The next meeting of the Softimage Los Angeles User Group will be hosted by RFX. Softimage's Mark Schoennagel and Michael Isner will be previewing some new technology that you will see appearing in future versions of Softimage|XSI. Those in attendance will also be treated to an interview and Q & A session with Steve Oedekerk of OMation.
