Cartoon Forum is the annual European animation co-financing event, organized by Cartoon, the European animation union. The organizers have chosen 79 projects eligible for funding consideration. The selected entries can be viewed at Cartoon's Web site www.cartoon-media.be. The annual Cartoon d'Or prize will be given during the closing session. The five candidates are: BZZ by Benoit Feroumont, Belgium; PONPON by Fabien Drouet, France; PASSPORT by Siri Melchior, U.K.; THE SUSPECT by Jose Miguel Ribeiro, Portugal; and THE MAN WITH THE BEAUTIFUL EYES by Jonathan Hodgson, U.K. These European films were chosen as candidates based on their award-winning performances at selected European animation festivals. The money given is to finance a new film, suitable for television.

The European Union's Cartoon is holding the second Cartoon Masters event of 2000. The conference will discuss the question: animation, video games, Internet -- which tools for which markets? Organized by Mangelis and Cartoon, the forum will try to provide information on the new tools and methods that are shaping the contours of the imaging industries and to provide a group reflection area for professionals on concrete conditions for using innovative technologies. Various themed workshops will discuss sound in animation, 2D/3D integration, animating for the Net, conditions for a multi-format production and new frontiers for animation.

The third annual Cartoon Movie is the European market for animation feature film. The market gives European production firms the chance to meet and exchange ideas, even create co-production partnerships. Increasing the attending number of feature film distributors, as well as international reach for European animated feature film is a high priority for the third edition of Cartoon Movie. This annual event is organized by AEFA Cartoon, the European Association for Animated Films.
