Anime Supercon (ASC) is now Animation Supercon, as it returns for a 4th year to an all new, bigger & better location; the Doubletree Miami Airport Hotel and Convention Center. Animation Supercon will replace Anime Supercon as the shows focus shifts to encompass the entire animation world, and not just Japanese anime. Set for October 2-4, Animation Supercon is a three day festival and convention dedicated to Animation, Cartoons, Anime, Comic Books and Video Games. Animation Supercon will feature celebrity guests, artists, animators, writers, vendors, Q&A's, parties, costume contests, anime programming, cosplay, panels, photo shoots, live music, video games and more as it takes over 100,000+ square feet of the Doubletree Miami Airport Hotel and Convention Center. This year's event will also host the inaugural Supercon International Animation Film Festival (SIAFF) which will feature animated films and shorts from across the globe. The event kicks off at 3:30PM, Friday, October 2 and the fun continues almost around the clock until 6:00PM, Sunday, October 4. Over the weekend-long event, attendees will have a chance to meet and converse with celebrity guests and artists from all corners of the industry. Animatu is an animation festival dedicated to digital. The festival holds an international Short competition, with some categories open only for Portuguese schools, Workshops and talks will also be held, among other activities. There are no entry fees. Anime Expo 2004 (AX2004) is the largest convention in the United States devoted to anime (Japanese animation) and manga (comic books). More than 20,000 fans and professionals from across the country are expected to attend. Artists and designers from Japanese computer game companies, computer animation companies and American animation companies will also be on hand to discuss the growing influence of anime on mainstream American entertainment.

The 13th Annual Anime Expo will host panel discussions, video and film programming, workshops, masquerade events, karaoke contests, anime art exhibitions and much more. A center piece of the Expo are the Cosplay (costume play) events, where participants dress up and compete as their favorite anime characters.

Thousands of devoted fans are expected to attend and participate in an Anime Masquerade event, AX Idol karaoke and Anime Music Video contests.

Anime Overdose is coming back with a new location and a revamped events lineup, including cosplay, karaoke, videogaming, workshops and more. Anime Overdose started at Santa Clara University in 2003 as an extension of the Tempura Anime Club, and in 2004 attracted over 800 attendees. Anime Overdose 2004, Santa Clara Anime Festival is a not-for-profit fundraising event for Santa Clara University's official anime organization, Tempura Anime.  There are 5 theatres in and around Annecy screening Festival films from 10am to 11pm. The programme includes films in the official selection and screenings which don't need to be reserved.Each evening at 10pm, there is also a screening on the giant screen on the Pâquier lawn (opposite Bonlieu, free access). Established animators and budding creatives, film directors and producers, teachers and students, designers or artists, long-standing fans or newcomers to the art... everyone can be found at the Festival.

The Festival is paying tribute to Ireland this year.

It is perhaps too early to say that there is a particular style of Irish animation cinema. Influenced by the USA, but especially by Europe, these creations are still in their infancy. However, you will discover the diversity of this animation through TV commissions, graduation and independent films, as well as some prize gems from the archives.

The 27th International Animated Film Festival at Annecy is now accepting entries for animated short films, television series, commissioned films and student films. Entry forms are now available on the festival Website. Only works completed after September 2001 and never before entered to the Annecy Festival will be considered. No registration fee is required. The Annecy International Festival of Animation features screenings, retrospectives, seminars, tributes and an international film competition.
