MoMA is presenting a exhibition of works by New York-based animator Michael Sporn. The exhibition, which is divided into four programs -- "New York Stories," "Fables," "A Peaceable Kingdom," and "An Evening with Michael Sporn" -- includes LYLE, LYLE CROCODILE (1987), GOODNIGHT MOON (1999), and his recent, moving adaptation of the Mordicai Gerstein Caldecott Award-winning book, THE MAN WHO WALKED BETWEEN THE TOWERS (2005).
A highlight of the series is "An Evening with Michael Sporn" on Nov. 12, part of the recently launched Modern Mondays initiative. The artist in conversation with animation historian/filmmaker John Canemaker and MoMA assistant curator Joshua Siegel, will illustrate the evening with clips from his award-winning animated films, including a new short, Pab's First Burger, and an excerpt from his feature-length work-in-progress about the life and work of Edgar Allan Poe.
