The 13th French Animated Films Festival (Festival National Du Film D'animation) showcases French animated art. The competition is for short films, TV films and commissioned films. The event will also feature more short, TV and commissioned films from around the world, as well as features, workshops, tributes and exhibitions. Two seminars will take place -- one about the production of feature films in France and the other about the organization of workshops for children. Florence Miailhe will demonstrate the technique of animating pastel on paper directly under the camera. There will also be an exhibition and screening of her work.

The Los Angeles Museum of Television and Radio presents a 90-minute film on Nick Park, the creator of the popular stop-motion animation characters Wallace and Gromit. The film will feature sequences from CREATURE COMFORT, and all three of the Wallace & Gromit shorts. A GRAND DAY OUT has Wallace and Gromit traveling to the moon in search of cheese. THE WRONG TROUSERS chronicles the mishaps that ensue when Wallace takes in a shifty penguin as a lodger. A CLOSE SHAVE uncovers how Wallace and Gromit unravel a countrywide sheep-rustling ring. The films will screen April 19 - May 20, 2001 at 1:00 pm, with a suggested donation of $6 for adults, $4 for students and seniors and $3 for children ages 13 and under.

Cartoons on the Bay is the only festival in the world dedicated to television animation. Promoted by Rai Radiotelevisione Italiana and conceived and organized by Rai Trade, the festival is an international event with awards, workshops, lectures and events centering on the ever-changing world of television animation. The International TV Cartoons Competition (Pulcinella Awards) and the International Conference of Television Animation are two of the many events held during the festival. The various Pulcinella Awards presented include best character of the year, programme of the year, and many other categories involving animated series, movies and films. For the first time in the 2001 edition, Cartoons on the Bay will hand out awards for Internet animation.
