At HBO's 15th Floor Theatre, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences presents "The Art of the Deal: How to Negotiate," a special evening devoted to techniques for negotiating the best deal possible, hosted by Michael C. Donaldson, author of NEGOTIATING FOR DUMMIES. A networking reception begins at 6:00 p.m. and the event gets underway at 7:00. The two-hour presentation, which will include will skill-building and a brief mock negotiation, will condense the three-day intensive negotiating seminar Donaldson has given around the world: "Wish, Want, Walk." Avanca Film Festival presents a forum for the best in cinema, TV, video and multimedia. The event features screenings, surprises, workshops, exhibitions, meetings and discussions.

The works admitted for selection are those produced on January 1, 2002 or after and cannot have been screened in Portugal. For cinema, the festival accepts short and feature fiction and animation films in 16 and 35mm and digital cinematography format. For video, the festival accepts productions of less than 20 minutes in VHS (multisystems), DV (PAL system) or BETACAM SP (PAL system. For multimedia, the event accepts Web movies in video or infographic format in the following categories: fiction, experimental and animation. For TV, the festival takes documentaries of less than 60 minutes already broadcast by a television station.
