Australia's leading digital arts forum. Insightful conference sessions on the latest techniques for creating computer-generated visuals for film and television, led by industry experts from major US, European and Australasian post houses. Comprises of conference sessions, masterclasses and technology labs and incorporates the annual AEAF Awards in 12 categories of competition which draw entries from around the globe. Events held in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

CALL FOR ENTRIES

Organisers of the Australian Effects and Animation Festival are now accepting entries into the AEAF Awards to coincide with the December conference in Sydney, Australia.

The AEAF Awards are designed to reward innovation and expertise in digital content creation for film, television, games and the web. You can enter as many individual entries as you wish, as long as they've been completed between July 1, 2001 and October 27, 2002. Entry into the AEAF Awards is free.

There are 12 categories into which you can enter:

Your entry must be PAL formatted and supplied on Beta SP or Digital Beta and be accompanied by a document of no more than 100 words explaining its special features. Following the success of the AEAF Awards in Sydney last December, organizers of the Australian Effects & Animation Festival (AEAF) have introduced a Short Film Festival to the Melbourne event (May 12-13) at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Federation Square, Melbourne. The shorts festival will showcase some of the best digital and animated material submitted to the AEAF Awards 2002, as well as some new material that has been submitted solely for the purpose of screening in Melbourne. Two films that have been nominated in the Animated Short Film category at this year's Oscars were finalists in the AEAF Awards 2002, THE CHUBBSCHUBBS (USA) AND THE CATHEDRAL (Poland).

The Digital Media Festival delivers an exhibition with the latest cutting edge tools for Animation, Visual Effect, HD/Digital Video production/Post production and Digital Imaging. Leading digital media technology tools from Apple, Sony, Panasonic, Adobe, Avid, Discreet and Canopus (just to name a few) will be exhibited with industry expert specialists on hand to inform and educate the industry.

Platinum Partner Apple will host the Apple Training Theatre with workshops on Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Shake and Motion. The Digital Media Partner Theatre will host a stream of free information sessions from the industry leading product vendors at the show.

The School of Multimedia Systems (Faculty of Information Technology) will be showcasing final 3rd year work of the Bachelor of Multimedia Systems in an Exhibition that will be held in the Atrium and the Edge at Federation Square Melbourne.

The dates of the Exhibition are the 22nd and 23rd of November 2004. It will be held between the hours of 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and is open to the public.

The objective of the Exhibition is to showcase to the Public and Industry, Innovations and the high skill level of our final year students. More than 100 students will be demonstrating multimedia work in the fields of Game Development, 3D Animation, Flash Animation, Short Films, Website design, Interfaces and Programming.

Byte Me! is a Digital Content Festival, featuring a program of screenings, Show 'n Tells by international Industry speakers, live audiovisual performances and innovative cross-media events. See http://ByteMe.net.au There will be free interactive community activities, as well as a intensive program of low-cost events such as screenings and guest speakers including Robin Hunicke, lead developer of MySims for wii from EA Games; Paul Van Ommen, head of the Miniatures Unit on King Kong from Weta Workshop; and the Australian Premiere screening of Figwit (Frodo is Great, Who is That?) documentary and Q+A with NZ Film-maker Stan Alley. There is NO Registration fee, and the events will all be reasonably priced. The Festival is unrelated to, but runs concurrently with GRAPHITE 2007 http://www.graphite.siggraph.org/ to make the long trip to Perth doubly worthwhile.
