Spend an afternoon with Academy Award-nominated women filmmakers and learn about the different crafts and career opportunities the film industry offers. Many of the women profiled in the recently released book GREAT WOMEN OF FILM will be on hand to give advice to women interested in a career in the film industry. For the 16th time, the Austrian Broadcasting Company, Upper Austrian Regional Studio, as the organizer of the Prix Ars Electronica, invites artists, scientists, researchers and developers from all over the world to participate in the Prix Ars Electronica competition. The categories are Computer Animation/Visual Effects, Interactive Art, Digital Musics and Net Vision/Net Excellence. The total prize money for the Prix Ars Electronica 2002 amount to 100.000 Euros.
The category of Computer Animation/Visual Effects encompasses independent producers as well as high-end products from the advertising and entertainment industries.

Reaching out to the new generation of animators.
Whitespace Studio at Kingston University is holding a conference on animation and special effects, aimed at industry and educators. The event is being hosted by Shelly Page, European representative of DreamWorks skg, and will have representatives from many of the UK leading animation an post production companies, such as The Frame Store, The Moving Picture Company, Beryl Productions and Rushes.
We will be looking at where the next generation of animators will come from and what they will need, to get from here to there.
The agenda includes presentations, workshops, discussion panels and screenings by and for industry leaders and European educational institutions most interested in animation, and students, present and future.
The conference is being held in Kingston Upon Thames on the edge of London, close to the heart of the UK post production industry.

We welcome and encourage people to submit animations for the screenings.
