Future Film Festival is a major Italian event dedicated to animation & special effects. The festival offers extensive retrospectives of international animation, premieres of major animation & special effects films, new television series and experimental shorts.
In 2001, over 22,000 people attended the Future Film Festival, including 300 journalists and 400 accredited professionals and academics.
The festival welcomed international guests from leading effects companies such as PDI, ILM, Pixar, Duboi and Buf Compagnie, animators Osvaldo Cavandoli and Bruno Bozzetto, and more international animation & special effects directors, artistic directors and creative designers.

West Coast Student Film Festival

The West Coast Student Film Festival invites all college, university and graduate student filmmakers around the globe to submit original work into the competition. There is no entry fee. Categories for entry are: Animation, Fiction and Non Fiction. This year's theme is "Overcoming Obstacles." Entries may be shot on any format but must be submitted in 1/2 inch VHS format. The festival will be featuring several winning films from each category, as well as top films in areas of cinematography, editing (sound/visuals), directing, acting, screenplay and soundtrack. A highly publicized, international event, the West Coast Student Film Festival will have many filmmakers and important professionals in attendance. Tickets will be made available to the public for the festival, starting in December 2001. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Push America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for, and awareness about, people living with disabilities.

The Knitting Factory in Hollywood presents The Knitting Independent Film Series.


The Knitting Factory -- home of great jazz, alternative and world music -- presents a bi-weekly film series to showcase independent filmmakers from around the world.

Located on Hollywood Blvd., the Knitting Factory is one block from the red carpet of the Kodak Theater and the Academy Awards ceremony.

Local filmmakers now have a state of the art facility to showcase and maintain a visible consortium of artists in the heart of the motion picture world.
The series is open to filmmakers anywhere in the world; residents can hold private screenings for friends and industry members.

The process is easy for filmmakers to present their short or full length film or video.

Animation 2002

Animation 2002 will take place at the University of Teesside on January 31 and February 1 2002. Following on from last years hugely successful events which brought together past-masters such as Ray Harryhausen and future stars like Michael Dudok De Wit, the 2002 event has a hard act to follow. However, it seems that organisers Chris Williams and Siobhan Fenton have managed to achieve the impossible. The line up of speakers and workshops is, to say the very least, impressive. Speakers are descending on Teesside from around the globe, and include Mark Baker and Neville Astley (Astley Baker), Barry Purves, Tony White, Marie Manton and Chris Shepherd (Slinky Pictures). This years 'in conversation with' special guest is award winning animator Paul Driessen. Topping the bill, the organisers are delighted to announce that Phil Tippett has accepted an invitation to join them at next year's event. As well as the usual happenings, delegates will be able to attend workshops by renowned 'Acting for Animators' author Ed Hooks, Cosgrove Hall, Softimage and ToonBoom Technologies. The Regional Screenings of the Public Choice section of the British Animation Awards will also feature as will a number of selected feature films and shorts. Animated Exeter is an annual animation festival consisting of a fortnight of animated films, workshops, events and exhibitions every February. Tied to the British Animation Awards Public Choice - the festival hosts events for all ages and levels of professionalism.
