Edward Bakst is the international animation department chair at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design (RMCAD) and the founding president of ASIFA-Colorado. At the event, he will announce the upcoming ASIFA-Colorado events and guest speakers, present his own award-winning animation and discuss creative goals behind his work. He will also address objectives that animation professionals, students and the art community must strive for, and how these issues are vital to the local animation arena, commercial or independent. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. at RMCAD. RSVP by May 14, 2001.

Flashbang announces FLASHBANG 3, the third installation and screening of cinematic and interactive Flash films. The event will feature cinematic Flash films shown on the big screen, as well as kiosks allowing attendees to explore interactive Flash media up close and personal. All films will also be added to flashbangonline.com after the show. Along with Flash based media, submissions of non-motion digital art will also be accepted for viewing in Eleven50's gallery the evening of the event. Digital art submissions may be anything including digital illustrations, Photoshop art, 3D stills, motion graphics stills, etc.

ASIFA-Hollywood is presenting a screening of Hollywood Cartoons in Technicolor, hosted by animation historian Jerry Beck. The show will feature rare 16 mm prints of classic cartoons, one from each Hollywood cartoon studio during the golden age of animation. Each cartoon is complete, uncut in vivid 3-strip IB Technicolor. You cannot see this on TV, video or anywhere else! The event will begin at 7:30 pm. The entry fee will be US$2 for members and $5 for non-members. Seating is limited.

ASIFA-Hollywood is presenting another "old and strange" video presentation: sex wars in animation, 1926- 1950, hosted by Milton Knight. Sometimes romantic and sensual,, often violent, the show will present the best and worse of loving couples in cartoons, from America and elsewhere. The event will begin at 7:30 pm. The entry fee will be US$2 for members and $5 for non-members. Seating is limited.

Storyopolis is presenting a craft and story hour for PBS' popular series DRAGON TALES. Kids can listen to dragon stories and participate in dragon crafts. Participants will be eligible for promotional give-aways. In addition, costumed characters from the show will be on hand to meet the children. Beginning at 11:30 am, the event is for kids aged 3 and up and costs US$6.

The 8th World Animation Celebration (WAC) will present awards to the best new animated works from around the world. Events include; The World Animation screenings; The World Animation competition; The Animation Hall of Fame ceremony; six one-day animation business conferences; four days of animation seminars and classes; two days of animation career planning sessions; The World Animation Marketplace and Recruitment Expo; The Battle of the Animation Studios Synchronized Swimming Teams; networking parties and receptions; and a one-day animation educators conference. Categories for the competition include feature and short films, television series, television specials, commercials, music videos, public service announcements, educational films, experimental animation, computer animation, Web animation, title sequences and direct-to-video productions. Registration fees range from $25 to $100.
