This second date will run as a three night event November 28-30 and will feature the addition of the Miyzaki classic, PRINCESS MONONOKE. Held in Swansea, Wales, SAND is a U.K. conference event for CGI animation, digital content and creation, attracting visitors and speakers from around the world, holding sessions on computer games, procedural animation, films, post production techniques, TV commercials and motion capture. Now in its ninth year, the conference is organized by Swansea Metropolitan University in partnership with the Welsh Assembly Government. Tim Allen will be leading this year's "Claymation" workshop for clay and stop-frame animation on November 16. Allen is an experienced freelance stop motion animator working on many successful series and films including CREATURE COMFORTS USA, Tim Burton's CORPSE BRIDE and the Oscar winning PETER & THE WOLF. "Acting for Animators" guru, Ed Hooks, returns to lead this professional workshop on November 24 designed for animators, new media designers, games designers and teachers who want their characters to convince their audience. Hooks is a pioneer in acting training, designed specifically for animators, having taught at most major studios including DreamWorks/PDI, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Electronic Arts. Anime expert Jonathan Clements of Muramasa Industries discusses "Storylining in a Corporate Environment" on November 26. Aspiring writers, designers and animators are all welcome -- as in the real world, the workshop will comprise group efforts to reach saleable solutions. Clements is a scriptwriter for media as diverse as DOCTOR WHO on the radio, the computer game HALCYON Sun, and the Sci Fi channel show SAIKO EXCITING. Independent Animator Rick Villenueve's workshop "Animated Thought Showers" on November 27 provides a practical approach on how to develop and present animation concepts for specific medias, from television series to feature films, independent short films to interactive games. Villenueve's television & film work includes the BEATRIX POTTER series and FERNGULLY, THE LAST RAINFOREST. Escape Studios are holding the Maya Workshop on November 26 for intermediate/advanced level, covering specific aspects of the Autodesk Maya software package. Throughout the conference week there are also animation and live action screenings (Including Studio AKA's VARMINTS, PERSEPOLIS, as well as THE DARK KNIGHT), professional sector workshops and business seminars. 3DX: 3D Film & Entertainment Technology Festival

Singapore will be the host of the world's first fully 3-D based film and entertainment technology festival taking place November 19-23, 2008. The Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) will host the festival officially named 3DX: 3D Film & Entertainment Technology Festival. Jim Chabin of 3D Partners will serve as 3DX executive producer of the five-day event taking place in Asia. The festival is supported by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). Christopher Chia, Chief Executive Officer, MDA said, "The development of a world class 3-D festival in Singapore highlighting the creative talent and technology in 3-D film underlines Singapore's commitment to play an active role in expanding the boundaries of 3-D entertainment. 3DX will provide a world stage and convergence point for filmmakers and technology companies to showcase their works for trade and consumer audiences. It will also provide industry players the opportunity to generate discussions on the latest trends and developments in 3-D." In highlighting what will be an international selection of films and properties for 3DX, the first two films chosen for the festival are FLY ME TO THE MOON, an animated family film from Belgium's nWave Pictures, featuring characters voiced by Kelly Ripa, Nicollette Sheridan, Tim Curry and Ed Begley Jr., and JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH 3D, a live action adventure from New Line Cinema and Walden Media, starring Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutcherson and Anita Briem. The current list of 3DX organizations and media sponsors includes the Motion Picture Association (MPA), NBC Universal TV Asia, Star TV India and Star Movies. Other Singapore Government agencies backing 3DX are the Singapore Economic Development Board and Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore. Highlights of the 3DX festival will include screenings of invited 3-D films from participating media organizations and partners, forums featuring guest speakers, directors, 3-D pioneers, visionaries and catalysts, red carpet reception and event gala celebration along with special entertainment based events for the public. The Waterloo Festival for Animated Cinema is a unique film festival celebrating the artistry of the animated feature film. Founded in 2001, the Waterloo, Canada-based festival routinely presents one of the most comprehensive showcases of feature animation in the world.

Videogame retailer GameStop will host midnight release events for FALLOUT 3 by Bethesda Softworks at their 1,600 stores nationwide. Starting at 10 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2008, customers can visit their local GameStop and be among the first to get their hands on the new game at 12:01 a.m.

Participating GameStop locations will begin their events at 10 p.m. local time; however, customers are encouraged to contact their local store to confirm details.

FALLOUT 3, available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, offers players new modern HD graphics and innovative ways to view the world in first or third person. New features include a new combat V.A.T.S. system with the ability to pause time and target specific body parts for attack, as well as the ability to customize your character with the SPECIAL Character System and take on the world outside the Vault 101.

Resonance Features and SF34: The Boston Science Fiction Film Festival present Anime After Dark, a 12-hour film festival event at Boston's historic Somerville Theatre, on October 18, 2008. It will start at dusk, 7 p.m., and run continuously until dawn at 7 a.m. The festival will bring some of the best in new and vintage anime to the big screen, in many cases for the first time. Ticket holders will be treated to an array of cinema treasures by masters of the genre like Studio Ghibli, Satoshi Kon, Leiji Matsumoto, Kenji Kamiyama, and others in a program that will run from dusk until dawn and include rare 35mm prints. Fourth Annual Turks & Caicos International Film Festival

The Fourth Annual Turks & Caicos International Film Festival will be held Wednesday, October 15, through Sunday, October 19, 2008, on Providenciales, one of the Turks & Caicos Islands, located in the Caribbean. A world-class industry retreat, the TCIFFs mission is to celebrate and reflect on cultural diversity through cinema, and honor and recognize filmmakers who use their art to celebrate humanity while educating, entertaining and enriching audiences around the world. Sponsored by the Turks and Caicos Board of Tourism and produced by Film Life, the festival will recognize and reward the best in international independent cinema.
