The American Cinematheque presents The 2nd Annual Festival of Fantasy, Horror, and Science Fiction. This 13 day festival includes 28 features, 9 shorts and many rare trailers from thirteen different countries including: Australia, Brazil, Czechoslovakia, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Poland, the United Kingdom and the United States. Highlights include: new work from Italian horror maestro Dario Argento (SLEEPLESS); a pair of stunning new Japanese anime films (METROPOLIS and VAMPIRE HUNTER D - BLOODLUST); two startling revisionist horror films from England (BLOOD and DEAD CREATURES); a cross-genre international shorts program; STARWOIDS, a new documentary about the STAR WARS fans who waited 42 days in line to be the first to see EPISODE 1; a sci-fi, fantasy and horror trailer show; a tribute to British sci-fi and horror legend Val Guest (THE CREEPING UNKNOWN); an ultra rare Mexican horror double-feature; plus hidden treasures from Czechoslovakia, Poland, Australia and Hong Kong. In-person guests include: actor Steve Railsback, Patrick Macnee, directors Joe Dante and Val Guest and Tope Hooper, plus Dennis Przywara (STARWOIDS) and short filmmakers Eric Anderson, Tanya Reihill, and Suk Yee Cheung. Additional guests announced as they are confirmed. All guests are subject to their availability. All screenings are at the newly renovated Lloyd E. Minnesota Fringe Short Film and Video Festival

The Minnesota Fringe Theater & Performance Festival, now in its eighth year, announces the inclusion of a film and video festival. The tradition of the Fringe is a non-competitive, all-inclusive celebration. All work entered will be programmed on a first come, first served basis. The only requirement is that the short be no longer than 60 minutes in length. The festival is looking for shorts of all categories and production qualities: experimental, fake-docs, horror, music videos, documentaries, student work, recent releases, as well as old 16mm. Films and videos must be submitted on VHS. The festival will screen VHS, super 8, 16mm and 35mm.

ASIFA-Hollywood is presenting some of the groovy cartoons from the Summer of Love, which reflected the pop-art sights and trippy sounds of the era, with rare prints of cartoons not currently available on tape or TV. Hosted by animation historian Jerry Beck, the event will begin at 7:30 pm. The entry fee will be US$2 for members and $5 for non-members. Seating is limited.

Flashbang announces FLASHBANG 3, the third installation and screening of cinematic and interactive Flash films. The event will feature cinematic Flash films shown on the big screen, as well as kiosks allowing attendees to explore interactive Flash media up close and personal. All films will also be added to flashbangonline.com after the show. Along with Flash based media, submissions of non-motion digital art will also be accepted for viewing in Eleven50's gallery the evening of the event. Digital art submissions may be anything including digital illustrations, Photoshop art, 3D stills, motion graphics stills, etc.
