The 13th Annual Rendez-Vous

The 13th annual Rendez-Vous organized by TV France International will be held in Biarritz for the first time this year. The new venue for the Rendez-Vous, Le Bellevue Conference Center, will enable TV France International to double space for the exhibitors. Moreover, by choosing Biarritz, TV France International can continue to provide the same high-standards and friendly and warm atmosphere, in addition to keeping-up with marketplace growth. The number of participants increases continuously; more than 200 buyers and 54 French distributors and producers attended the event in 2006.

As in previous years, the marketplace will have two sections:

1) A digital library equipped with over 120 screening stations (program digitalization has tripled the number of programs screened by buyers -- more than 9,000 in 2006) so that buyers can view the best and latest French productions (more than two-thirds of the programs will be presented on the international market for the first time)

2) An area especially set aside and designed and for private meetings between buyers and French distributors and producers.

MediaBridge Youth Film Festival 2007

MediaBridge Youth Fest is a two-day film festival curated by 14 youth ambassadors from China, Palestine, the U.K., Serbia, Slovenia, India, Mexico and Puerto Rico and 11 Illinois teens. The international short films and feature were selected by MediaBridge participants from a pool of nearly 200 films through a process of dynamic small-group debates.

Four screenings will be held over two days: Saturday, Aug. 11, at Facets Multi-Media (1517 W. Fullerton Ave., Chicago) at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm and Sunday, Aug. 12, at the Harold Washington Cultural Center (4701 S. King Drive, Chicago) at 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Tickets, $8 per screening for adults, $6 for students. A festival pass can be purchased for $18.

The Illinois Arts Council is the leadership sponsor of the MediaBridge program, which is supported by the NEA, the Crystal Fund, Facets Multi-Media, Inc., and Columbia College. MediaBridge is produced in collaboration with the Harold Washington Cultural Center.

The National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) is launching the LATV Festival to run concurrently with the highly successful NATPE TV Producers' Boot Camp, now in its fifth year. The events will run from July 25 through 27 at various locations in Los Angeles including the House of Blues in West Hollywood and The Highlands Hollywood at the Hollywood and Highland complex. Supporting sponsors include the Producers Guild of America, the House of Blues, TV Guide, NETTV and paidContent.org. The LATV Festival is being crafted as an extension of the annual TV Producers' Boot Camp. The event will result in a citywide, video content festival showcasing the work of Los Angeles' outstanding multi-platform TV producers and production community. The LATV Festival will open on Wednesday, July 25 with the first of three "Deconstructing a Hit" breakfast series featuring the producers of three top series produced in association with the Producers Guild of America. Each evening the festival will offer special evening screenings along with chat sessions featuring cast and crew. Also on Wednesday, LATV Festival Digital Day will showcase the latest portals, channels, platforms and Internet celebrities. Brainwash Movie Festival 2007

The Brainwash Movie Festival is showing short and feature movies for the first time. Brainwash will show a variety of genres. The original Drive-In, Bike-In, Walk-In movie festival, Brainwash will be showing some of the best of more than 500 movies in the Brainwash catalog from shows over the past 12 years. Many of the Brainwash selections chosen for their daring and uncompromising style will never be seen on television or other more restrictive venues. MoCCA Art Festival 2007

Faced with an unprecedented flood of exhibitor applications for the 160 exhibitor tables filling the three ground floor ballrooms of New York's historic Puck Building (295 Lafayette Street at Houston), MoCCA Art Festival 2007 organizers have decided to add space upstairs for more exhibitors. The MoCCA Art Festival, held each June since 2002, offers a unique venue to see and purchase comics, mini-comics, web comics, graphic novels, animation, posters, prints, original artwork, and much more. Thousands of people who love cartoons and comics -- from hardcore collectors and enthusiasts to the merely curious -- come to the festival each summer to meet, talk to, and purchase works from some of today's best cartoon and comics artists, writers, editors, and publishers. Each year, the festival also invites dozens of well-respected creators, scholars and other experts to participate in a two-day slate of lecture/discussion panels on a wide range of comics and cartoon topics.
