The Museum of Television & Radio will present the 24th annual William S. Paley Television Festival. This Festival, named for William S. Paley, founder of both the Museum and CBS, celebrates television's rich and diverse programming and the creative process behind it. During each evening, the audience views episodes or highlights of the featured work and has the opportunity to ask questions of the cast and creative team or the individual involved in its production. Although principally supporting and honoring 2D animation production, the "2D OR NOT 2D Animation Festival" does in fact encourage ALL categories of animation and animated filmmaking... from 2D to 3D, Claymation to Cut-out. Established by author and award-winning animator, Tony White, in 2006, the festival will consider for screening any form of animation that brings innovation, quality of execution and/or aesthetic beauty to the medium. Proposed keynote speakers this year will include (subject to final confirmation)... Bill Plympton, Don Hahn, Michel Gagne and Nancy Beiman, who will all be speaking and presenting their work between film screenings throughout the event. "GOLDEN PENCIL" awards will be presented to both 'best film' and 'best animation in a film' for several category including '2D', 'All-form animation', 'Student animation' and 'Digital media.' The non-competitive but prestigious "Roy E. Gen Art, the national arts and entertainment organization dedicated to showcasing emerging talent in fashion, film, music and the visual arts, is seeking submissions of new or existing short films by Florida-based or "born and bred" filmmakers for its 2nd annual "Shorts in the Park." Shorts in the Park, being presented by Quantum on the Bay by Terra International, is an evening of film championing today's most talented emerging Florida-based independent filmmakers. Taking place at Margaret Pace Park, the event will present the works of three short film finalists, selected by a committee of distinguished film industry professionals, to an audience of more than 1,000 attendees. A $5,000 grant, made possible by Quantum on the Bay by Terra International, will be announced and presented to the winning filmmaker, followed by a screening of a favorite modern classic. Cost of submission is $10 and all films submitted will automatically be considered for Gen Art's 10th Annual Film Festival in New York taking place in April. The American Cinematheque presents The 2nd Annual Festival of Fantasy, Horror, and Science Fiction. Submission Eligibility



Entries submitted for consideration must be from productions that originally aired or were released between
August 1, 2001 and December 30, 2002.



Entries submitted for consideration in the Production categories will be nominated based on the completed production in its entirety. A production many only be entered into a single production category (theatrical feature, home video, Internet production, short subject, special project, television commercial, television program).

Entries submitted for consideration in the Individual Achievement categories will be nominated based on work from a single production; entries will not be nominated based on a body of work (e.g., an entire television season of writing, a portfolio of character designs). Teams may be entered in the Individual Achievement categories, provided that each member receives identical credit for his or her work. Partial teams will not be accepted.


The person submitting the entry must be a member of ASIFA-Hollywood in good standing. While any individual may submit an entry for consideration, each entry form must be signed by an Executive Producer or Producer associated with the production.

Submission and Mechanical Requirements

Each entry must contain two copies of the completed entry form. Entries submitted for Production categories must be accompanied by either a videocassette clip from or a complete copy of the production. Entries submitted for Individual Achievement categories must be accompanied by a videocassette clip of the work to be considered. Clip reels do not need to be continuous sequences, but can be comprised of several clips. Videocassette clips should be no longer than the time limit listed for each category. If there is no stated time limit, clips may be as long as necessary to fully represent the production. Certain Individual Achievement categories may require additional materials. Please consult the requirements for the category in question for complete specifications. In the case of teams, each team member and the credit received should be listed on a single entry form. Keep in mind that each member must receive identical credit and that partial teams will not be accepted.

Nominees will be chosen from all eligible entries by reviewing the additional submitted materials (e.g., videotapes, storyboards, digital media, etc.). Videotapes should be in VHS format, containing both picture and sound. Beta or comparable quality videotapes and other materials will be requested from nominees after announcement of the nominees. Please do not submit original copies of materials; they cannot be returned. All videocassettes and other additional materials must be clearly labeled.



Cost of Entry


All entrants mst be ASIFA-Holywood members in good standing. The first entry submitted is free. There is a $10 entry fee for each additional entry. Annie Award sponsors are exempt from the entry fee but not the membership requirement. Entry fees are non-refundable.

There is no entry fee associated with submitting recommendations for the Juried Awards (26-30). However, recommendations may be made only by members of ASIFA-Hollywood.

3DX: 3D Film & Entertainment Technology Festival

Singapore will be the host of the world's first fully 3-D based film and entertainment technology festival taking place November 19-23, 2008. The Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) will host the festival officially named 3DX: 3D Film & Entertainment Technology Festival. Jim Chabin of 3D Partners will serve as 3DX executive producer of the five-day event taking place in Asia. The festival is supported by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). Christopher Chia, Chief Executive Officer, MDA said, "The development of a world class 3-D festival in Singapore highlighting the creative talent and technology in 3-D film underlines Singapore's commitment to play an active role in expanding the boundaries of 3-D entertainment. 3DX will provide a world stage and convergence point for filmmakers and technology companies to showcase their works for trade and consumer audiences. It will also provide industry players the opportunity to generate discussions on the latest trends and developments in 3-D." In highlighting what will be an international selection of films and properties for 3DX, the first two films chosen for the festival are FLY ME TO THE MOON, an animated family film from Belgium's nWave Pictures, featuring characters voiced by Kelly Ripa, Nicollette Sheridan, Tim Curry and Ed Begley Jr., and JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH 3D, a live action adventure from New Line Cinema and Walden Media, starring Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutcherson and Anita Briem. The current list of 3DX organizations and media sponsors includes the Motion Picture Association (MPA), NBC Universal TV Asia, Star TV India and Star Movies. Other Singapore Government agencies backing 3DX are the Singapore Economic Development Board and Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore. Highlights of the 3DX festival will include screenings of invited 3-D films from participating media organizations and partners, forums featuring guest speakers, directors, 3-D pioneers, visionaries and catalysts, red carpet reception and event gala celebration along with special entertainment based events for the public.
