The Toronto Animated Image Society will be hosting a short attention span festival. TAIS members Mike Constable and Jonathan Amitay have animated pieces in this festival of films that are two minutes or less in length. There will be two shows: one at 7 pm and one at 9 pm.

Flickerfest is a short film festival that travels to various cities around Australia. Starting with a 7-day event in Sydney the event will take place in Kempsey, Canberra, Scone, Sawtell, Darwin, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Alice Springs and Byron Bay. The festival, now in its third year, has screened to audiences of over 10,000 people. Every year Flickerfest presents special programs of short films that showcase the work of specific regions.

The 16th Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market allows short filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their work to an international audience of distributors, buyers and producers who are searching for new talent and content. The market offers viewing areas of more than 3,000 new titles and special screenings. The 700-page market catalogue highlights the films presented at the market. The event gives industry professionals a chance to meet and work on setting up future deals. The European Union MEDIA programme is a supporter of the market.

The Texas Film Festival is the largest student-run festival in the U.S. The festival focuses on the artistic and educational aspects of film and video and welcomes works by students and novices, as well as more well-known filmmakers. The event offers addresses and informal workshops with the artists. Some of the past guests have included Spike Lee, Oliver Stone and Robert Rodriguez.

The Melbourne International Animation Festival is a non-competitive international festival showcasing Australian and Melbourne animation. The festival will be comprised of the best of the world's most recent animation, retrospectives, kid's films, other specialized screenings, a small number of animated feature length films, talks and other events around the city. Submissions are welcomed and all films will be selected by a jury.

Flashbang announces FLASHBANG 3, the third installation and screening of cinematic and interactive Flash films. The event will feature cinematic Flash films shown on the big screen, as well as kiosks allowing attendees to explore interactive Flash media up close and personal. All films will also be added to flashbangonline.com after the show. Along with Flash based media, submissions of non-motion digital art will also be accepted for viewing in Eleven50's gallery the evening of the event. Digital art submissions may be anything including digital illustrations, Photoshop art, 3D stills, motion graphics stills, etc.

The Minnesota Fringe Theater & Performance Festival, now in its eighth year, announces the inclusion of a film and video festival. The tradition of the Fringe is a non-competitive, all-inclusive celebration. All work entered will be programmed on a first come, first served basis. The only requirement is that the short be no longer than 60 minutes in length. The festival is looking for shorts of all categories and production qualities: experimental, fake-docs, horror, music videos, documentaries, student work, recent releases, as well as old 16mm. Films and videos must be submitted on VHS. The festival will screen VHS, super 8, 16mm and 35mm.

The ASIFA International board of directors is inviting all representatives of ASIFA national groups and individual members to attend an open ASIFA meeting, to be held during the upcoming Annecy festival (June 4-9, 2001). The meeting will happen on June 6, 2001 from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm in the Jumel Room, Quai des Clarisses (near the Pierre Lamy theater). The Tahoe International Film Festival (TIFF) is a celebration of cinema. Specifically, TIFF seeks to honor filmmakers who demonstrate an understanding of the strength of media to effect beneficial change in the human condition. In addition to screening close to fifty national and international film submissions of all genres and lengths, and hosting several special events, TIFF will host a symposium of filmmaker's forums with the theme "Women of Story, Women in Film."
