CALL FOR ENTRY
Participate in the 17th edition of the BARCELONA INTERNATIONAL AUDIOVISUAL FESTIVAL in November 2013.

We invite directors, screenwriters, producers, and students to submit their audiovisuals for all ages. Any type of audiovisual will be entered into pre-selection with photochemical or electronic media support. The audiovisuals competing for the Humanitarian prize should contain certain humanitarian values which favor democratic coexistence and growth of social citizenry, especially directed toward children or about childhood.

THEME: Children and youth – values that favor coexistence – all genres
-Productions for children and youth, productions about children and/or those that deal with childhood issues
-Productions made by children or teens in a framework of media literacy
-Productions made by students in audiovisual schools or universities
-Productions of general subject matter, for all audiences, that contain values and favor coexistence.

As in previous years, we are particularly interested in audiovisuals and that not only entertain but also educate and teach. The prestigious HUMANITARIAN and CREATIVE prize categories will be awarded.

Included this year:
-Professional Area, organized by the Association of Audiovisual Professionals of Catalunya (CPAC)
-Visit to the CaixaForum Mediatheque and CaixaForum exhibits
- Workshop and feature films in the afternoon

Launched last year, DOCartoon is ‘the first festival in the world to be primarily dedicated to animated documentaries and non-fiction comics’. A mix of short and feature-length animadoc films, meetings and exhibitions takes place in the old Tuscan town of .Pietrasanta, between seaside and mountains, where Michelangelo would stop after choosing the marble blocks who would work on. No competition, no awards but a good selection of quality feature and short animated documentary films, encounters with artists, events and art exhibitions in the best locations in town.

Toronto Urban Film Festival (TUFF) NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS

We like our films short, sweet ... and silent!

The Toronto Urban Film Festival (TUFF) returns for a sixth year to digital platform screens across the Toronto subway system, September 7 - 17, 2012, concurrent with the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Named one of MovieMaker Magazine's "20 Coolest Film Festivals" (2010), TUFF is a 10-day long celebration of the art of the urban silent screen. TUFF films screen on the Pattison Onestop network of digital platform screens to over 1.3 million daily commuters.

Filmmakers, video artists and animators are invited to submit their work to TUFF now at http://www.torontourbanfilmfestival.com

The festival accepts all genres of silent, one-minute film, video and animation that are of interest to a cosmopolitan audience.

Submission deadline is July 15, 2012. Submit free before May 31, 2012. After June 1, 2012 a $20 fee will apply.

TUFF is open to Canadian and international artists, and awards thousands of dollars in cash and prizes. Animation prizes include softward from Toon Boom Animation. 

TUFF is co-produced by Pattison Onestop and Art for Commuters.

OPEN CALL for videos: DÉRAPAGE 12

DÉRAPAGE is a unique event of audiovisual exploration that annually invites people from all disciplines to create a non-narrative sonorized audiovisual short piece of less than three minutes. Your videos can be in realtime, in animation, working with textures; shot in red, blue or green; in black and white or in color; hysterical or contemplative; name it! they'll find their place in Dérapage. So, now is time to submit your non narrative artworks for the grand screening evening of Dérapage 12.

Selected works will be shown Thursday April 19th, at Centre de Design de l'UQAM.

Kristiansand Int'l Children's Film Festival 2012

We are now accepting entries for our 15th edition, which will run from 24 - 28 April 2012. KICFF is looking for high quality shorts, long shorts, features and documentaries to be screened in our main section and numerous side bars of Norway's largest festival for films for children and youth. Kristiansand International Children’s Film Festival (KICFF) is an annual festival established to promote film and video for children aged 3 - 14. For teenagers we promote films in the Youth Programme (14+).

PROGRAMMES
The Main Programme is devoted to new feature films for children for theatrical and video release. Titles are selected on artistic merit. The sidebars will consist of several short film programmes, Panorama, Youth Programme (14+), documentaries and long shorts. Special attention will be paid to new films from the Nordic countries, but traditionally, all parts of the world are represented.

The festival has a screening club for professionals.

The Festival management makes the selection for the Festival.

AWARDS
FILM&KINO’s Children’s Film Award: An international jury awards the best film in the Main Programme with NOK 75.000 as well as a diploma, to support Norwegian distribution for the film. Presented by FILM & KINO.

The Ludi Award:Audience award for best film in the Main Programme, including a statuette and a diploma.

The ECFA Award: A professional jury awards the best film in the Main Programme with a ECFA diploma and the winner is nominated to comepe for Best European Children’s Film of the year (announced at the 2013 Berlinale Generation).

The Don Quijote Award : An international jury awards the most outstanding film in the Youth Programme (14+). The award is presented by The International Federation of Film Societies FICC.

 

THE ENTRY FORM MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY THE FOLLOWING:

- A DVD screener or digital file (link to e.g. Vimeo, ftp access or Dropbox)

- A synopsis of the film, maximum 50 words.

- A digital photo from the film. 300 dpi. (please upload via web form)

- A listing of the film's participation and Awards received at other Film festivals.

- The festival accepts 35 mm prints, Video (Beta SP PAL or DigiBeta), DCP, Blu-Ray Disck and digital file (Prores 4.2.2 / 4.2.2HQ) as screening formats. English subtitles are required.

1st Animated Documentary Film and Non-Fiction Comics Festival

 Pietrasanta (ITALY), 24-30 September 2011

 

From next September 24 till 30 will take place DOCartoon, the first festival in the world to be primarily dedicated to animated documentaries and non-fiction comics.

 

Created and directed by Thomas Martinelli, the festival that will develop during the last week of September in the city of Pietrasanta –on the west coast of Tuscany and famous for its artistic vocation- will present a program full of animated documentary screenings and not only, sensitive to current events and reality narrated with the use of creative images. Among the films, quite a few will be European and national previews and premieres. About these more news will be spread towards the end of the month.

 

Along with the screenings there will be a number of exhibitions related to non-fiction comics set up in the best art galleries in town, including also illustration and painting inspired by reality.

 

The festival will host also several talks and panels with authors, journalists and intellectuals on current issues and pages of recent history treated by the filmed and drawn works in program. Inaugurations of exhibitions, thematic parties, direct encounters with animators, artists, scriptwriters will be spread throughout the lovely city center in its galleries, bookshops, cafés and public venues.

Have you made an animated short film in the last 18 months? Want it to screen to a packed house as part of the fantastic TAIS Showcase this June in Toronto? Then submit!

The Toronto Animated Image Society (TAIS) is seeking independent animated films completed after June 2009 that are under 15 minutes in length for the TAIS ANIMATION SHOWCASE screening this June 23, 2011 at Innis Town Hall (University of Toronto, 2 Sussex Avenue). All genres, mediums, techniques, themes accepted, both narrative and non-narrative. 

There is no entry fee to submit work. Artist fees paid for all selected films.

Films should be submitted ONLY as QuickTime movie files on DVD/CD or via a download link for the file(s). Please send either a 1280 x 720 Quicktime file or a 720 x 480 Quicktime file using our preferred codecs ProRes or Photo Jpeg with 48kHz sound.

TAIS 2011 Bunny Jam - Call for Submissions

In honour of the Toronto Animated Image Society (TAIS) mascot and this year’s Chinese zodiac sign, we are proud to announce that this year’s theme for the TAIS AniJam, ten second animations that will screen in rapid succession at the TAIS Showcase in June, is ... BUNNIES! (Rabbits, hares, Thumper and Bugs, bucks, does, energizers, playboys, and any other idea you may have related to voracious procreators and twitchy noses.)

Create a ten-second long animated film that somehow encompasses our “bunny” theme. Use any animation technique you want. Submit it to TAIS and we’ll edit the submissions into a Bunny AniJam film that will screen at the TAIS Showcase in June 2011 in Toronto!

Bunny Jam submissions are eligible for awards and prizes!

Submit your film as a QuickTime file using by CD/DVD, via ftp, file hosting site or link to your webspace with attached submission form, a brief bio and two 2 x 3 stills (high res jpeg) from your film. Format of all Bunny Jam submissions should be a 1280 x 720 QuickTime/24 fps using our preferred codecs ProRes or Photo Jpeg with 48kHz sound. Bunny Jams should not be any more or less than 10 seconds. If submitting by DVD, please ensure you make a data file DVD (not instantly playable).
