Submission Eligibility



Entries submitted for consideration must be from productions that originally aired or were released between
August 1, 2001 and December 30, 2002.



Entries submitted for consideration in the Production categories will be nominated based on the completed production in its entirety. A production many only be entered into a single production category (theatrical feature, home video, Internet production, short subject, special project, television commercial, television program).

Entries submitted for consideration in the Individual Achievement categories will be nominated based on work from a single production; entries will not be nominated based on a body of work (e.g., an entire television season of writing, a portfolio of character designs). Teams may be entered in the Individual Achievement categories, provided that each member receives identical credit for his or her work. Partial teams will not be accepted.


The person submitting the entry must be a member of ASIFA-Hollywood in good standing. While any individual may submit an entry for consideration, each entry form must be signed by an Executive Producer or Producer associated with the production.

Submission and Mechanical Requirements

Each entry must contain two copies of the completed entry form. Entries submitted for Production categories must be accompanied by either a videocassette clip from or a complete copy of the production. Entries submitted for Individual Achievement categories must be accompanied by a videocassette clip of the work to be considered. Clip reels do not need to be continuous sequences, but can be comprised of several clips. Videocassette clips should be no longer than the time limit listed for each category. If there is no stated time limit, clips may be as long as necessary to fully represent the production. Certain Individual Achievement categories may require additional materials. Please consult the requirements for the category in question for complete specifications. In the case of teams, each team member and the credit received should be listed on a single entry form. Keep in mind that each member must receive identical credit and that partial teams will not be accepted.

Nominees will be chosen from all eligible entries by reviewing the additional submitted materials (e.g., videotapes, storyboards, digital media, etc.). Videotapes should be in VHS format, containing both picture and sound. Beta or comparable quality videotapes and other materials will be requested from nominees after announcement of the nominees. Please do not submit original copies of materials; they cannot be returned. All videocassettes and other additional materials must be clearly labeled.



Cost of Entry


All entrants mst be ASIFA-Holywood members in good standing. The first entry submitted is free. There is a $10 entry fee for each additional entry. Annie Award sponsors are exempt from the entry fee but not the membership requirement. Entry fees are non-refundable.

There is no entry fee associated with submitting recommendations for the Juried Awards (26-30). However, recommendations may be made only by members of ASIFA-Hollywood.

ASIFA-Hollywood is currently accepting entries for the 31st Annual Annie Awards. Deadline to receive entries is Friday, October 3, 2003. Every year, ASIFA-Hollywood, the Los Angeles area-based branch of the International Animated Film Society, honors the best in film, television, game and Internet animation with the Annie Awards. The awards ceremony will take place at the Alex Theater in Glendale, California on Saturday, February 7, 2004.

The Annie Awards honor overall excellence as well as individual achievement in areas ranging from production design, character animation and effects animation to storyboarding, writing, music and voice acting. Entries submitted for consideration must be from productions that originally aired, were exhibited in an animation festival or commercially released in their country of origin between January 1, 2003 and December 31, 2003.
