Apple Computer is coming to the Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group's monthly meeting to demo their non-linear editing software, Final Cut Pro 2.0. The meeting begins at 6:45 pm and the doors will open at 6 pm. The meeting will be held at the LA Film School located at 6363 Sunset Blvd. There are no reservations and seating is on a first come, first served basis. In addition, Tim Wilson from Borisfx will show the brand new Boris Red 2.0.

The 3rd World Summit On Media For Children aims to create an audiovisual policy supporting the rights of children around the world. Organized by the European Children's Television Centre, the event strives to bring many people, including teachers, researchers and academics, together to investigate the relationship of children's television and new media. The conferences will feature topics such as: going global; media for all; new technologies; and children have a say. To celebrate the release of the new Nik Phelps and the Sprocket Ensemble CD "Fetch," Sprocket Ensemble is holding a musical animation party. The CD features songs from the group's popular animation/music shows at the Minna St. Gallery. Musicians on the CD include violinists Carla Kihlstedt and Irene Sazer, singer Connie Champagne, bassist Matt Small, tubist Zachariah Spellman and eclectic horn Nik Phelps. New films by Sandra Gibson and Chris Lanier will be screened, along with David Michalak's film INNA MINNA. Admission is US$10 general and $7 for students. Both nights will feature performances at 7:30 and 9:30 pm.

The Center for Digital Imaging and Sound (CDIS) is hosting DigiFest 2001, an annual digital arts symposium and exhibition designed to jumpstart students by introducing them to the professionals, educators, equipment and software driving the digital arts and animation industries. BC students and their teachers are invited to attend hands-on workshops and develop their skills and understanding of digital media. DigiFest is expanding to include motion-capture, digital audio and recording, video game programming and visual effects. The event takes place from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm in the new CDIS Entertainment Technology Center (ETC). Over 35 different workshops and panels are scheduled for the event, with topics ranging from Web, animation and multimedia careers to introductory workshops in software such as Softimage XSI, PhotoShop and 3D Studio Max.
