The Melbourne International Animation Festival (MIAF) is an annual festival which screens 200+ films in competitive programs as well as a comprehensive selection of retrospectives and themed programs. MIAF screens at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image - a brand new, state of the art screening facility dedicated to the highest possible screening standards.

A smaller version of MIAF - called the Australian International Animation Festival - tours to 5 other cities around Australia.

Reef 2 Beach Surf want you to make a surf-related video of no more than 3 1/2 minutes duration. The video must be in DVD format and can be serious, documentary style, humour, or music video, or any other sort you like, even animation. There is no limit to the number of entries, enter as many times as you like.
First prize is a Bruce Palmer surfboard and all videos will be considered for inclusion on a DVD.

Tia Kratter joined Pixar Animation Studios in 1993 as a digital painter and worked on Pixar's first feature, Toy Story. Since then she has held the Shader Art Director position on four other films including Cars. Tia will be giving a public lecture on Saturday, July 8 from 3pm, at Australia's premier film school at the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne. It will be held in Federation Hall, Grant Street, Southbank. Entry is free, but seats are limited. This event is being sponsored by Simplot as part of the Simplot Masterclass Series.
