Australian International Animation Festival 2012

Posted In | Event Category: Animation | Event Type: Non-competitive Festivals
Starts: May 18, 2012 - Ends: May 20, 2012
Location: Wagga Wagga, NSW, Australia
Website: http://www.aiaf.com.au

Now in our 9th year, CSU Animation and Visual Effects are proud to present the Australian International Animation Festival 2012. The internationally renowned event has gone from strength to strength since its modest start and this year has secured amazing exclusives from more than 2,000 submissions from all around the world. The range of styles, genres and techniques is testament to the vibrancy and relevance of creative animation and the premiere screening of this highly acclaimed collection is happening right here in Wagga Wagga!

AIAF has also become far more accessible to our younger audience this year with an official M15+ rating. Yes, that’s right, no stealthy tactics to sneak in as we openly invite our growing fans to join in the fun and experience this unique event. AIAF is now rated M15+ except for the Kids Program (all ages) and Late Night Bizarre (Restricted to 18+).

Every film in the Top 50 of All Time Worldwide Box Office is either animated or heavily depends upon visual effects to succeed (http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/world/). This trend is further evidenced by the Top 100 where an astonishing quarter of the films are completely animated. The creative freedom that animation provides has continuously expanded into all areas of film/television production, computer games, multimedia authoring and design, scientific visualisation, advertising and interactive media to name a few.

The festival showcases an eclectic mix of films and will give audiences a complete, up-to-date snapshot of the international creative animation scene. In addition to these there are programs that focus on digital animating, stop motion, and Australian made films. Rounding out the line-up are programs for younger audiences and the legendary “Late Night Bizarre” program for those whose tastes lurch to the truly odd and unfathomable.

A series of free talks and workshops given by filmmakers from Australia and overseas will provide those with questioning minds a chance to learn more about how and why these films get made. Buy a Full Festival Pass and you’ll save over 60%, win unbelievable prizes, see bonus films, network with key people, be invited to the after-party which includes complimentary food & drinks, and then some...

On top of all of that, Full Festival Pass holders will be in the running to win extremely generously door-prizes including Adobe CS6 Production Premium (worth $3,175), Wacom Intuos 5 Pen & Touch graphic tablet (worth $400), and Madman Entertainment exclusive 10-pack animation (worth $400+). We can’t think of many events of this magnitude where your chances of winning such esteemed prizes are so great without crowdsourcing work or organ donation.
