Declared of Cultural Interest by the Honorary Deputies Chamber of the Nation, Nueva Mirada Film Festival is a member of CIFEJ (International Centre of Film for Children and Youth) and co-produced by INCAA (National Film Institute for the Arts and Sciences). Among the institutional sponsors are the UNESCO, the OEI (Organization of Iberian American States), the INTAL (Institute of Latin American Television) the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, the Secretary of Culture of the Nation, the Cultural Institute of the Province of Buenos Aires.

Through cinema, the festival sets out to highlight the needs of children and young people around the globe. It features an official competition, retrospectives, seminars, workshops and professional meetings.

ANIMA

The festival is objective is to spread animation as an engine of growth of the audiovisual industry and culture, generating a space to share technologies, artistic propositions, experiences and trends, among the different countries.

ANIMA'09 will take place in the city of Cordoba, Argentina, from October 8 through 10, 2009. The festival is organized by the Centro Experimental de Animacion and the Secretaria de Extension Universitaria, National University of Cordoba. This fifth edition of the ANIMA will be dedicated to exploring the concept of Identity Traits. Therefore, we open the following: -- Call for entries, for short and feature animation films of every genre and topic. Special interest is granted to those films where the filmmaker's expressive intention stands out from marketing requirements; and also to school productions. EXPOTOONS is an annual international animation festival taking place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, dedicated to companies, artists, producers, students and professionals. In its 4th edition, it continues to build a bridge between Latin America and the world. The festival presents three days of conferences with international animation icons, meetings with Latin American animation professionals, feature premieres, workshops, animation market, special programmes and exhibitions, and a competition for feature films, short films, advertising, TV series and graduation shorts from all over the world.

Animarte is a showcase that focuses on short animated films. The show tours cities in South America bringing some of the best animated shorts from around the world. The show is offered free of charge and we try reach large audiences. We believe in bringing animation shorts to the largest number of people possible to spark their creativity and open their minds to this innovative form of art.

Animarte’s Artistic Director, Javier Saldeña, was born and raised in Argentina. He studied filmmaking in Buenos Aires and later moved to the United States to further his studies in filmmaking and animation. During regular trips back home he would bring animated shorts with him that he had seen in the United States to share with friends and family. Javier soon discovered how excited people in his home country of Argentina and the surrounding countries were about this unique form of art.

That’s when we decided to partner up with friends, fellow animation lovers and other artists to mount an animation show that would bring the best animated shorts to cities throughout South America!

ANIMARTE showcases the best animation shorts from around the world and brings them to cities throughout South America. Already three major cities have been confirmed for our sixth edition: Buenos Aires, Argentina; Mendoza, Argentina and Viña del Mar, Chile. We continue to work hard to add more cities to our tour!

Córdoba International Animation Festival - ANIMA, is both an academic and cultural event, devoted specifically to animation in its artistic and technological dimensions. ANIMA merges the energy, enthusiasm and joy of an Animation Festival with the scientific aspects of a Conference. Held every odd year since 2001, ANIMA is the main animation event in Argentina and a very influential player in its field in Latin America and the Caribbean.

 

ANIMA is no ordinary event. Its main objective is to gather creative individuals devoted to the art and craft of animation into a meeting point where all discussion and exchange can be directed into the scope of animation, in its many dimensions of analysis: as artistic expression, as cultural industry, as educational resource, as corpus for research, etc… Or just as fun!

The Festival is open to animation films of every genre, topic, format and screening media (film, video, television, Internet). Special interest is granted to those works where the filmmaker’s expressive intention stands out from marketing requirements; and also to school productions. Participation is open for artists all over the world, with special interest in those from Latin America. There is no limit in the number of works an author can send, but a separate Entry Form must be completed for each work, and shipping instructions must be respected.

There is no entry fee.
