The 2005 Script Pimp Screenwriting Competition allows fledgling writers the chance to break into the industry. All 20 finalists are invited to the Script Pimp Awards Ceremony at the Hollywood Improv on July 28, 2005. Prizes include $10,000 in cash, $8,000 in prizes and the opportunity to have your script read by executives at more than 200 production companies. Four of last year's finalists were optioned following the awards ceremony. In February 2004, Warner Bros. purchased one of the 2003 Script Pimp Winner's, SLAMMIN', for six-figures. The Yorkton Short Film & Video Festival, now in its 58th year, is the longest running festival of its kind in Canada. Over the years, the festival has garnered an esteemed reputation as one of the country's top film and video festivals; a reputation that attracts outstanding entries and personalities from across Canada. Established in 1947 as the Yorkton Film Council, the first festival was held in 1950, making it Canada's first Short Film & Video Festival.
