The Independent Film Project/Midwest is holding their ninth annual conference to highlight independent filmmaking in the Midwest region of the United States. Annually, IFP/Midwest takes submissions for a new film project from members and the winner receives US$40,000 to help in the production of the short film. The conference will feature independent feature premieres and various panel discussions.

The 4th Annual Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival is an event that embraces creative, strange and entertaining films. Feature films, short films, videos and documentaries are all accepted. All films must be independently produced with an Asian/Asian North American in a key creative role. The festival strongly encourages first-time and emerging directors to submit projects.

The 17th EuropaCinema & TV Film Festival highlights European film and television projects. The festival has a European animation shorts category. All films must be 15 minutes or less.

Cinemagic 2000, Northern Ireland's International Film Festival for Young People, is an international conference and fair exploring the nature of entertainment and education for young people in the digital age. Telluride IndieFest is one of the premiere independent film festivals in the United States. The festival highlights outstanding work in independent filmmaking and screenwriting. Telluride features screenings, discussions, workshops and seminars.

MadCat International Women's Film Festival features independent and experimental works by women from around the world. Flickerfest is a short film festival that travels to various cities around Australia. Starting with a 7-day event in Sydney the event will take place in Kempsey, Canberra, Scone, Sawtell, Darwin, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Alice Springs and Byron Bay.
