CLUB DIY will present an evening of live music and education at the Red Devil Lounge, located at 1695 Polk Street. Doors open at 7:00 pm for a networking cocktail party, followed by two panels and live music. Starting at 8:00 pm, "Film Marketing, Publicity and Promotion... And How To Tell The Difference" panel discussion will be moderated by DIY Convention chairman Bruce Haring and features John Howard Swain, producer, Full Circle Productions; Brian Ging, director, AMERICAN YEARBOOK; Glorinda Marie, actress and SF Indieclub leader; Ryan Harlin, producer, DO YOU REMEMBER? FIFTEEN YEARS OF THE BOUNCING SOULS; and Joel S. Bachar of Microcinema International. The discussion will focus on practical advice for low-budget filmmakers seeking to rise above the noise and clutter of the hundreds of independent films released each year. Following the digital film panel, Nadine's Wild Weekend founder Nadine Condon will moderate "How To Sell 10,000 CDs In A Year... And Still Make Money If You Don't." British grandmasters of animation Ray Harryhausen, Oliver Postgate and Bob Godfrey are set to share the stage at the fourth annual Animated Encounters at the Watershed Media Center in Bristol, England May 9-10, 2003. Last year more than 5,000 attended the festival offering a mix of international and U.K. premieres, industry seminars and events. The audience will vote for their favorite film that will then become a nominee for the European Cartoon D'Or film award at Annecy. More than 50 films will be screened in addition to all five BAFTA nominees in the short animation category. Events include a retrospective on pioneering work to emerge from animators and studios in Manchester, England plus a look at Channel 4's animators-in-residence scheme and 11 shorts to emerge from that program.

Cries For Peace Short Film And Photography Competition

The Cries for Peace competition invites you to enter your pictures or short film for the chance of winning an Award and recognition for your work. The competition aims to collect positive expressions of peace. Selected images collected will be showcased as part of the London Week of Peace 2008 and the winner will be chosen by a public vote August 15-September 9, 2008. The competition aims to be a positive response to the far too many unfortunate stories in the media about young people and crime, particularly violent crime leading to fatalities.

Entry is free. Films should be no longer than 90 seconds. Films shot on cell phones and digital cameras are welcome. The winner will be revealed at the Peace Awards Dinner on September 18.
