Moviegoers attending the special engagement of Disney's THE HAUNTED MANSION at Hollywood's historic El Capitan Theatre (Nov. 26, 2003 through Jan. 4, 2004) will have the opportunity to explore a rare behind-the-scenes attraction about the making of the movie. "The Haunted Mansion - Hollywood" features the actual sets, costumes and vfx designed and built by the film's Academy Award-winning team of artists at Sony Imageworks. "The Haunted Mansion - Hollywood" will display a visual effects show about the ghosts (Jay Redd was the visual effects supervisor), exhibit works by director of photography Remi Adefarasin and opportunities to design a set and storyboard a scene. Plus there will be a step-by-step demo on "building a zombie by celebrated makeup designer Rick Baker. In addition, viewers will be able to learn how costume designer Mona May got her outfits to glow and how Madame Leota's head got into the crystal ball. All attractions are located around the actual sets used in the film -- built by Oscar-winning production designer John Myhre (CHICAGO)-- which audiences will have the chance to see up close and explore. Guides will be on hand to answer questions about the sets, props and costumes, and explain how each was used in the film. Numerous effects, photo opportunities, displays and games round out this special attraction. For 11 years, the South by Southwest Film Festival has highlighted the best in new independent film. The SXSW Film Conference will take place March 13-16, 2004, at the Austin Convention Center.
