The 10th Annual Austin Film Festival

The 10th Annual Austin Film Festival celebrates narrative and documentary films both in long and short form. The conference that accompanies the festival features panelists from the film industry who will discuss their experiences. First place winners receive: a cash prize of $1,000 (Feature Category) or $500 (Short and Student Short Categories); reimbursement (up to $500) of one round-trip airfare to Austin to attend the 2002 AFF; hotel accommodations at an AFF hotel (up to $500); a special Winners Night Screening at the Festival; the AFF Bronze Typewriter Award; and a special Los Angeles screening of their film for industry professionals. Short Films screened in competition at the Austin Film Festival are eligible to be nominated for an Academy Award. The 39th Chicago International Film Festival

Each year, the Chicago International Film Festival screens more than 100 feature films, nearly half of them making either its regional, national or in some cases world premiere. The International Feature Film Competition celebrates films from around the globe and awards prizes for Best Film, Best Director and Best Performances. The New Directors Competition honors the up-and-coming artists that are just making a name for themselves. MIFF-Milan International Film Festival

Again this year, MIFF will merge Milanese fashion, the movie business and Italian night-life. Last year the audience increased 100% from MIFF 2001. The 2002 best film prize was given to SHOWBOY, which subsequently was purchased by Regent Entertainment and will be released in North America September 2003. Now in its 4th year, MIFF 2003 is the premier international film festival in Milan, capturing the cultural diversity of the world of filmmaking and provides filmmakers with an avenue of exposure to the film community. CLUB DIY will present an evening of live music and education at the Red Devil Lounge, located at 1695 Polk Street. Doors open at 7:00 pm for a networking cocktail party, followed by two panels and live music. Starting at 8:00 pm, "Film Marketing, Publicity and Promotion... And How To Tell The Difference" panel discussion will be moderated by DIY Convention chairman Bruce Haring and features John Howard Swain, producer, Full Circle Productions; Brian Ging, director, AMERICAN YEARBOOK; Glorinda Marie, actress and SF Indieclub leader; Ryan Harlin, producer, DO YOU REMEMBER? The 2004 Sundance Film Festival is the premiere independent film festival in the U.S. This year, the festival is introducing the inaugural Jury Prize in International Short Filmmaking. International short films under 30 minutes in length are eligible for the prize, to be selected by the Short Film Jury. Films must have less than 50% U.S. financing to qualify as an international submission. Founded by Robert Redford in 1981, Sundance Institute is dedicated to the development of artists of independent vision and the exhibition of their new work. Since its inception, the Institute has grown into an internationally recognized resource for filmmakers and other artists. Sundance Institute conducts national and international labs for filmmakers, screenwriters, composers, writers and theater artists. The annual Sundance Film Festival, a major program of Sundance Institute, is held each January. The 2004 Sundance Film Festival will be held January 15-25 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Sundance, Utah. Below is a list of the various submission deadlines:
