The Exploratorium is sponsoring a major exhibition entitled "Behind the Screen: Making Motion Pictures and Television." This exhibition is on loan from the American Museum of the Moving Image's collection. It explores the science and craft of moving images and their production. Part of the attraction will allow visitors to create their own animated films.

The Sarah Bain Gallery is presenting an exhibit of the "Art of Dr. Seuss." This is a rare opportunity to catch a glimpse of the "Tufted Gustard" sculpture and purchase limited editions of your favorite artwork.

ANIMAC: the International Annual Spanish Animation Show is devoted to promoting the art of animation. The five-year-old event is a joint venture between the School of Fine Arts of Lleida and the Lleida Culture Department. ANIMAC 2001 wants to celebrate the capability of animation to mix with many other artistic disciplines such as music, painting, photography, performances, digital arts, graphic design and others. The event includes film and video screenings, retrospectives and theme screenings. Besides the films screened on the big screen, visitors will have the chance to view all the films entered in the festival in private screening booths. This year's graphic image of ANIMAC has been created by award winning illustrator and animator Carles Porta.

ASIFA Hollywood, MPSC Local 839 Cartoonists' Union, Hollywood Heritage and WIA present this year's Evening of Remembrance, a remembrance of animation friends and colleagues who passed away in 2000. Refreshments begin at 6 pm with the event following at 7 pm. The ceremony will take place at the Hollywood Studio Museum. This year's honorees include: Marc Davis, Walt Stanchfield, Mike Webster, Les Novros, Bill Hurtz, Jack Ozark, Eyvind Earl, Charles Schulz, Arthur Davis, Carl Barks, Rene Garcia, Vyacheslay Kotenochkin, Joanne Wolf-Plein, Kay Ellermaier, Frank Oniatis, Jay Sabry, Don Foster, Barbara Miller, Shirley Thomas, Jack Bailey, William Weldon, John Boersema and Gil Kane.

Voicebank.net, the first and only company to provide a completely online solution to the voice-over audition process, is holding a demonstration of their service. The event will be held at DB Studios and voicebank.net is inviting advertising and talent agencies, animation houses, casting directors, actors, production houses, sound studios and in-house corporate advertising executives to attend the demo. The presentation will feature a hands-on demonstration of the voicebank.net system and informal discussion of industry trends, a Q&A session and networking.

Animation Dream VI Exhibit is a showcase of the best work from the students at the School of Visual Arts. The event will contain models, storyboards, cels, background drawings and murals. A reel of award-winning work from recent graduates will also be screened. The exhibit is being curated by animation artists Don Duga, Howard Beckerman and Irra Verbitsky.

The 2nd PISAF festival includes an Animation Film Competition, as well as exhibitions, special events and workshops (Digital Animation, Clay Animation, PinScreen Animation).

Inner-City Arts' Annual Gala Fundraising Dinner is a star-studded event to support the works of the inner city arts program. The VIP reception starts at 5 pm with a dinner beginning at 7 pm. The evening's festivities will include a silent auction including animation art and collectibles donated by industry celebs. Inner-City Arts was founded in 1989 to help teach arts, such as animation, after public schools started cutting back on art education.
