The 2007 International CES, the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow, will celebrate the show's 40th anniversary. Bill Gates, chairman/chief software designer of Microsoft Corp., will return to CES for his ninth pre-show keynote address on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at 6:30 pm. Ed Zander, chairman/ceo of Motorola Inc., will kick off the 2007 International CES with an opening keynote, immediately following a State of the Industry Address by Gary Shapiro, president/ceo of CEA, which starts at 8:30 am on Monday, Jan. 8. Robert Iger, president/ceo of The Walt Disney Co., will round off day one of the International CES with his company's first CES keynote address at 4:30 pm, Monday afternoon. The 2007 New York Book Festival will hold its annual program celebrating literature with a daytime festival in Central Park followed by an evening awards ceremony. The 2007 New York Book Festival will consider published, self-published and independent publisher non-fiction, fiction, children's books, genre-based, teenage, how-to, audio/spoken word, unpublished stories, comics, poetry, e-books, wild card (anything goes!), science fiction, romance and biography/autobiography works. A panel of judges will determine the winners based on the following criteria: the story-telling ability of the author and the potential of the work to win wider recognition. Entries can be in English, Spanish, French or Italian and should have been published on or after Jan. 1, 2003. The grand prize for the 2007 New York Book Festival Author of the Year is $1,500 and a flight to New York for the awards. Deadline submissions in each category must be postmarked by the close of business on May 25, 2007. Winners in each category will be notified by e-mail. The 2007 TIAF will take place in Taipei city from September 28th to October 7th, 2007.

The Taiwan International Animation Festival (TIAF) is organized by The Chinese Taipei Film Archive (CTFA), a non-profit foundation which is annually sponsored by the Government Information Office. The Archive is devoted to collect, restore and preserve moving image heritage of Taiwan and to assist the development of film industry in Taiwan. Since 1995, the Archive joined the International Federation of Film Archives, and cooperated with many FIAF members in exchanging film information and culture.

The 2008 MoCCA (Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art) Art Festival will take place the weekend of June 7-8 at the historic Puck Building (293 Lafayette Street at Houston) in downtown Manhattan's famed SoHo arts district. The festival will be open to the public from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm both days. Admission starts at $10/day or $15/weekend but is only $10/weekend for MoCCA members. The MoCCA Art Festival, held each June since 2002, annually brings together cartoon and comics artists, writers, publishers, collectors and thousands more -- from the most hardcore enthusiasts to the merely curious - to see and peruse an incredibly wide range of contemporary comic and cartoon artworks.
