The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka has been organizing the International Exhibition of Drawings since 1968. Forty years after the first exhibition, drawing returns to Rijeka, this year accompanied by animated films. Over time, as the museum kept bringing forth themes that asked questions and gave answers on definitions, nature, borders and techniques of drawing, as a central axis of Rijeka exhibition's reflection, always and again we reached new and unexplored domains of using the process and product of drawing. From one year to another, international exhibition represents drawing under various lights, questioning relation between drawing and other arts, adding and updating the basic definition that "drawing is a graphic depiction of forms, exercised on any surface". Its extensive application is being observed and continuously monitored. Norman McLaren, one of the giants of animated film, defined the latter as invisible space that exists between the drawings. In his own words: "Animation is not art of a drawing that moves but art of movements that are being drawn. That which happens between each photogram is more important than that which is in it. Animation is, therefore, art of manipulating the invisible spaces that lay between photographs." McLaren's definition of animated film is a starting point from which we move into exploring everything that animated film and drawing are. The basic idea of international exhibition is to collect and exhibit original drawings, and present animated films because of which this drawings were created in the first place. We wish to invite some of the authors whose works are going to be exhibited. Exhibition will go on for three months and will be accompanied with film screenings, workshops targeted at various ages and lectures on animated film, all of which will provide us a possibility of insight into actual questions and researches in this field. Herein we primarily refer to the unavoidable question of using the new techniques which, to the great extent, had their hand in animated film's realization. Besides the central show at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, there will be few smaller exhibitions set in Mali salon gallery, at Rijeka's main street of Korzo. Arist/Works: 1. In 2007, Filmfest Dresden enters its 19th year. Focusing on short films, the festival promotes the film category that is mostly disregarded by cinemas and television. Since its beginning in 1989, Filmfest Dresden has developed into one of the major short film festivals in Germany. The festival's program reflects the many fold aspects of shorts, including animation and fiction films as well as documentary and experimental films. Within the framework of this year's Filmfest Dresden young animation filmmakers will be offered the unique opportunity of an international exchange between Dresden and Zagreb. Launched in 1987, the Singapore International Film Festival sets out to promote film as an artistic medium, provide the opportunity to audiences to view films not otherwise released commercially, create awareness of the finer points of filmmaking through seminars and workshops by overseas professionals, pave the way for a Singapore film industry and provide an international showcase for Asian Cinema.

In partnership with the Coolidge Corner Theatre, the Brattle Film Foundation's 1st Annual New England Animation Bash promises to be an event for all things "toony." Covering all the bases, the theatres will show independent and network pieces, as well as professional works and college projects. On June 6, The Brattle Theatre will host "An Evening with Soup2Nuts," kicking off at 6:00 pm. The 1st Annual "Urban 2 Suburban Film Fest Show" is a Film/Performing arts festival geared to bring talent together under one roof despite geographical and artistic contrast. As part of the 10th anniversary of the mega Dubai Shopping Festival, the First International Animation Celebration Day will screen 200 animation films from U.S., Europe, Asia and the Middle East and will also showcase the international variety and quality of expertise involved in the making of animated films. With an interesting assortment of recent films, as well as retrospectives and historical ones, the event is tailored to appease the taste of all film-lovers across the age barrier.

An added interesting feature of the festivities will be the workshops being organized on how to make animation films. Expert Egyptian (Imprint) and Emirates (Emaritoons) based studios will train visitors in producing 2D and 3D animation, clay animation and puppets animation during the six-day celebrations. An art gallery will also be displaying paintings portraying the history of the animation industry in the world.
