visions2000 celebrates everything that makes up animated theatre. Promoted by the University of Brighton, the festival features performances, film screenings, exhibitions and workshops for both adults and children. The festival tours to various locations around the U.K. including Birmingham, Bracknell, Ludlow, Oxford, Portsmouth, Walsall, Walton on Thames, Jersey and Kent. Brighton will also host a multi-media exhibition of U.K. animated pop promos and puppetry. "Puppets in Pop" showcases contemporary animated icons such as Flat Eric, the legendary dancing milk carton from Blur's award winning video "Coffee + TV" and Supergrass' "Pumping on your Stereo" video. The event will also feature designs, storyboards, stills, show reels and soundscapes from companies such as Henson's Creature Shop, Hammer & Tongs and Skint Records. Other exhibitions include Rutter & Bennett's larger than life Circus sculptures and Manic Mechanics by Johnny White. Other visions events include: "Talking Puppets in Pop," a talk leading animators from the music industry; "Blunderbus Tour," a children's theatre company that takes puppetry to hospital wards, schools and play groups; and "Future visions," a day for venue promoters featuring companies using innovative puppetry techniques or taking animated theatre to new audiences in new locations.

iMIX 2.0 is the interactive television industry's professional event, focusing on issues such as technology, licensing, advertising, privacy, community-building and non-linear content creation. iMIX Executive Conference takes place from October 10-11 and the iMIX Developers Conference and Expo from October 12-13, 2000. Executive Conference keynote addresses will be delivered by reps from AT&T and Echostar Communications. The event will include seminars and case studies. Developers Conference and Expo will focus on production, interactive advertising, standards, applications and technology. Speakers include reps from Open TV, dotTV, Microsoft, J. Walter Thompson, ScientificAtlanta, Respond TV and Fox Broadcasting. Demonstrations of various projects and products can be viewed on the Expo floor.

"bit by bit" is an all digital visual exhibition of "on-screen" art that aspires to recognize, promote and reward the best digital work being produced around the world today. This juried gallery exhibition will be installed on large format monitors in the Main Gallery of the Business of Art Center. The exhibition has three categories: still, dynamic and interactive. Prizes -- including a US$1,000 best of show award -- will be awarded to artists based on quality, skill and originality. Additional prizes will include cash awards, hardware, software and services. An animation art auction will be held to benefit the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias. The art was donated from the private collections of animators. Memorabilia from movie openings and personal awards have also been donated. Selections are from MULAN, HERCULES, SNOW WHITE, POCAHONTAS, TOY STORY, NICKELODEON, RUGRATS, FANTASIA/2000, DINOSAUR and more. The silent auction will be held as Klasky Csupo Studios near Sunset Blvd and Vine Streets. A catalog of the items will be available in early September and bids can be placed via phone, fax or mail.

The 15th Animated Cartoon Festival For Young People is a biannual event which gives young people an opportunity to discover a wide array of productions from all over the world. The festival will hold tributes, exhibitions and workshops. The official selections will be screened within several programs during the festival. The Biennial show will focus on painting, photography and sculpture. Entry fees are:
US$850 for paintings (up to 5 pieces) and $750 for Sculptures (up to 2 pieces).

The 8th New York Digital Salon is an international juried exhibition of prints, sculptures, interactive installments, performances, animation, digital video and Internet art made with the computer. The jury will pick 85 entries from over 800 applicants to be showcased in the exhibit. After its run in New York, the exhibit plans to tour Europe and Asia. Previously, it has traveled to Milan, Italy; Barcelona, Madrid, Alicante, Valladolid and the Canary Islands, Spain; and Lisbon, Portugal. The event will be kicked off with a reception on November 6 from 6 - 8 pm. The Visual Arts Museum is open Monday - Wednesday and Friday from 9 am to 6:30 pm, Thursday from 9 am to 8 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm.

Since 1977, Cinanima has been promoting the international art of animation in
Espinho, a city located on the Northern coast of Portugal. Every year, the Cinanima
International Animated Film Festival presents an international animation competition
program, as well as retrospectives and exhibitions.

Cartoombria 2000: 6th International Animation Exhibition showcases the current status of animation. The event will provide viewers multimedia stations, a video/program viewing room and a special conference room where it will be possible to meet participating authors and technicians. The festival will focus on digital and multimedia animation with an emphasis on game development. The festival will hold events highlighting international schools focusing on computer animation, new media and Web animation.
