"SUPERSTARS! Of Animation & Design" is a two-night multimedia event that explores the people behind influential design and animation in pop culture. The event features talks and multimedia presentations by animation and graphic design students from The Art Institutes International at San Francisco. Kathi Georges, graphic design instructor at the school and creative director of Alphanetics, will host it. The topics for Tuesday will be Swiss Design, Movie Titling, Japanese Design, Psychedelic Media, Manga, Intuitive Design and Grafitti. The topics for Wednesday will be Dada, Horror Movie Posters, Comics, New Wave/Punk Design, Anime and Techno. The event will run from 6:30 - 8:30 pm on both days. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Kinetica 2: A Centennial Tribute To Oskar Fischinger is touring the U.S. with many of the master's works. The exhibit is set up into three programs. Program One features Fischinger's titles recently restored by the Academy Film Archive. Program Two features rarely seen works, advertising films, experiments and fragments of uncompleted films. As part of the second program iotaCenter director Cindy Keefer has produced a new documentary, OSKAR FISCHINGER: THE CREATIVE SPIRIT. Program Three will feature the work of many artists who have been influenced by Fischinger's work. The 3rd World Summit On Media For Children aims to create an audiovisual policy supporting the rights of children around the world. Organized by the European Children's Television Centre, the event strives to bring many people, including teachers, researchers and academics, together to investigate the relationship of children's television and new media. The conferences will feature topics such as: going global; media for all; new technologies; and children have a say. The event will also hold an exhibition, audiovisual centre, forums, workshops, children's events and children-produced film festival.

To celebrate the release of the new Nik Phelps and the Sprocket Ensemble CD "Fetch," Sprocket Ensemble is holding a musical animation party. The CD features songs from the group's popular animation/music shows at the Minna St. Gallery. Musicians on the CD include violinists Carla Kihlstedt and Irene Sazer, singer Connie Champagne, bassist Matt Small, tubist Zachariah Spellman and eclectic horn Nik Phelps. New films by Sandra Gibson and Chris Lanier will be screened, along with David Michalak's film INNA MINNA. Admission is US$10 general and $7 for students. Both nights will feature performances at 7:30 and 9:30 pm.
