The 35th Annual WorldFest is one of the oldest film & video festivals in America and the world. WorldFest gave first honors to Spielberg, Lucas, David Lynch, Randall Kleiser, Oliver Stone, Ridley Scott, The Coen Brothers, Ang Lee, Michael Cimino and hundreds of others. WorldFest offers more than $25,000 in cash and equipment awards, including the $2500 Kodak Raw Stock Award. There are 6 production seminars presented by top industry talents, such as cinematographers Vilmos Szigmund and Laszlo Kovacs,special effects director Richard Edlund, and director Robert Wise.

We screen in 35mm and digi-beta & Beta-SP only on the Christie 6000 DLP Roadie. We select 60 new features for premiere and we unspool 100 new shorts, docs, student and experimental films. Jubilee 2002 - US/International Short Film Division

Anyone of any age is welcome to enter any of the following subdivisions. All
entries must be 30 minutes or under. Work may originate in any film, video or
digital medium unless otherwise noted. You may enter a single work in
multiple divisions with separate entry forms and screener tapes (VHS NTSC).

- Open: Narrative, experimental, animation, documentary genres.

- 8 mm: Originally shot on 8 mm or S8mm film, or 8 mm video. Any genre.

- Underground: Works that are innovative, subversive, adventurous, or
controversial. It might be considered

West Coast Student Film Festival

The West Coast Student Film Festival invites all college, university and graduate student filmmakers around the globe to submit original work into the competition. There is no entry fee. Categories for entry are: Animation, Fiction and Non Fiction. This year's theme is "Overcoming Obstacles." Entries may be shot on any format but must be submitted in 1/2 inch VHS format. The festival will be featuring several winning films from each category, as well as top films in areas of cinematography, editing (sound/visuals), directing, acting, screenplay and soundtrack. A highly publicized, international event, the West Coast Student Film Festival will have many filmmakers and important professionals in attendance. Tickets will be made available to the public for the festival, starting in December 2001. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Push America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for, and awareness about, people living with disabilities.

The Knitting Factory in Hollywood presents The Knitting Independent Film Series.


The Knitting Factory -- home of great jazz, alternative and world music -- presents a bi-weekly film series to showcase independent filmmakers from around the world.

Located on Hollywood Blvd., the Knitting Factory is one block from the red carpet of the Kodak Theater and the Academy Awards ceremony.

Local filmmakers now have a state of the art facility to showcase and maintain a visible consortium of artists in the heart of the motion picture world.
The series is open to filmmakers anywhere in the world; residents can hold private screenings for friends and industry members.

The process is easy for filmmakers to present their short or full length film or video.

The Nashville Independent Film Festival proudly announces its 33rd annual competition for independent and student film/video artists. The 2002 Festival, held June 5-9, 2002, will showcase the best in independent features, shorts, documentaries, animation, experimental and works by young filmmakers. Also, NIFF features workshops, panel discussions, vendor and product expo, and guest appearances by nationally recognized film and video artists. First prize in the Short Film and Animation categories qualifies the winning film for Academy Award consideration. Dreammaker Award to top 35mm feature film (one week run in a Los Angeles theater, qualifies film for Academy Award consideration). Cash prizes will be awarded to works selected by the festival judges.

Workshops and panel discussions will take place during the festival. Past workshop/panel participants include D.A. Pennebaker (filmmaker), Olympia Dukakis, (actress), Kevin Keller, (Sr. Film Buyer, Regal Cinemas), Tom Bertino (Industrial Light and Magic), Jay Francis (Film Roman), Wayne Wooten (Pixar), T-Bone Burnette, (music producer), Margaret Drain (producer, The American Experience).
