Every year the Festival offers an international competition (46 countries represented in 2001), a national competition, a competition on-line, a new digital work competition, together with thematic programs (in 2002 : China, Portugal, African Perspectives, Children's Program...) and a short film market. Altogether over 350 short films are offered to a large public, with a total of 129,000 spectators and 2,000 professionals in 2001. Categories for the international competition are: fiction, animation, documentary and experimental films of 40 minutes or less, completed in 2000 or 2001, on optical 16 or 35 mm.

The Angelus Awards recognize and showcase student films of uncommon artistic caliber which explore the complexity of the human condition with creativity, compassion and respect. Festival entries are open to all undergraduate and graduate film and video students. All genres are accepted (drama. comedy, animation, documentary and narrative). Top award is $10,000. The 2001 Angelus Awards will be held at the Directors Guild of America, Los Angeles, California. This year, the festival has received a record 275 submissions (26 animations), from 88 schools in 24 U.S. states and seven other countries.

"Les Webproducteurs" is a non-profit organization which brings together French Internet production companies responsible for a vast spectrum of editorial and audiovisual content - both interactive and linear - including animations, illustrations, music, games, fiction, cross platform and documentaries.
In every city, Les Webproducteurs highlights the output and creativity of 60 webproduction companies and the content they offer for your Internet portals, interactive and linear TV. The World Tour takes place in the cities of Paris, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Mexico.
"Les Webproducteurs" will be in Los Angeles for a unique screening and cocktail reception to show you the best of the web and interactive TV content with a French touch.
Charles Antoine de Rouvre, the President of the organization will be present in Los Angeles from November 28th to December 1st.

The Durango Film Festival, after its successful 2001 premiere, is in the works for 2002. This juried 10-day festival will present independent feature films, documentaries, animated films, shorts, experimental, and new media works. In addition, the festival will offer educational salons, VIP panels, filmmaker discussions and host a variety of parties and receptions. On Saturday, March 9, 2002, the winners of the Golden Quakie Awards will be announced. Award-winning films will receive encore screenings on Sunday to close the festival.
The Durango Film Festival is now calling for entries for the 2002 event. We invite submissions of narrative, documentary, animated and experimental features and shorts shot on film and video. Acceptable exhibition formats include 35mm and 16mm film, BetacamSP, DV, DVCAM, and DVD-video. Submission deadline is December 1, 2001.
Each film selected for competition will be shown at least three times during the Festival and will be eligible to win the Golden Quakie Award (named for the quaking leaves of the aspen trees ubiquitous in the area). Golden Quakies are awarded in the following categories: Best Narrative Feature,
Best Documentary Feature,
Best Documentary Short,
Best Narrative Short,
Best Animated Short and Best First Feature Film.

Animac 2002 is an international annual animation show that celebrating its 6th edition from the 14th to 17th of February 2002 in Lleida, Spain. Animac is a non-competitive event that is a platform for the best animation from all times to be screened and in which the animation cinema researches new ways of experimentation and dialog between the different artistic disciplines. Carolina Lopez is leading the project as artistic director and Animac image is created by Carles Porta. Lleida's culture department and a good qualified coordination team support this event. Established as an artists' colony more than a century ago, Taos is known for it's eclectic mixture of cultures, traditions & philosophies.
