The Internationales Bochumer Videofestival will present a selection of fiction, documentary and experimental videos. Awards include three Jury Awards, an Audience Award and Special Prizes. Other features include workshops, interactive CD-ROM art, video installations and conferences.

The Hollywood Documentary Film Festival (HFF) is seeking submissions for its 5th annual festival. Non-released, completed features, documentaries and shorts, including animated shorts, are all eligible. Entries must be submitted on a 1/2" VHS tape (all formats accepted). Entry fees are: Animation, Children, Documentaries, Shorts and Young Filmmaker: $35 per project; Features: $50 per project. Foreign language films must have subtitles. The first Hollywood Documentary Film Festival will run concurrently with HFF. It will showcase up to 20 documentaries from around the world. The selected documentaries will be competing for the Hollywood Discovery Awards in the Festival's main film competition. In addition, a conference will be held that will focus exclusively on documentaries.

The Stuttgart Luwigsburg Filmfest focuses on the variety and wealth of European cinema. The events feature two main sections: Cinema Europe and the European Short Film Festival. Cinema Europe highlights 25 productions that have not been released in Germany. Each year the festival conducts a national focus on animated films from a different European country. DISCOP is a television market covering over 30 emerging television markets in Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, Central Asia and Caucasus. In conjunction with the market, DISCOP 2001 will present two new features: The WebTV East Exhibition, an exhibition of technological Web-based solutions that promote television brands and video content on-line; and the DISCOP Campus Sessions, a program of thematic sessions covering the production, marketing and promotion of television content in Central and Eastern Europe. Sessions include television format production in Central and Eastern Europe; historical documentary co-production; sports programming; the Internet as a marketing tool for TV stations; European union funding and training sources available to central and eastern European audiovisual professionals; and key audience data.

The Hope and Dreams Film Festival is seeking features, shorts, documentaries, animation and screenplays for its fourth annual competitive film festival. All types of animation accepted. The Hope and Dreams Film Festival is a program of Hope and Dreams Art Center, Inc., a non-profit corporation created to stimulate, advance and harmonize the arts with the natural environment. Their mission is to educate the community through a combination of filmmaking, traditional fine arts and cultural activities.

The six-day conference will debut the results of the GSTA recently released Economic Impact Study, a comprehensive examination of the quantitative and qualitative factors that affect how large format films are produced, distributed and exhibited. The conference will also feature up to 12 new giant screen films and 4 short films and will introduce a nightly "wrap party" for attendees to network and expound on the events of the day. Other conference favorites will include Films-In-Development and Films-In-Progress, Technical Sessions, Roundtables, Developing Members Workshop, and the GSTA Achievement Awards.
The Giant Screen Theater Association is a nonprofit association dedicated to the worldwide growth of the large format film industry by supporting the developers and presenters of giant screen film experiences. Its goal is to be the global forum for producers, operators and suppliers of the large format film industry and to foster its growth and development in both the educational and commercial sectors.

The 2nd Calgary International Film Festival (CIFF) highlights films from Canada and around the globe. The festival will hand out such awards as audience favorite; best jury picked short; best jury picked feature; and best jury picked documentary. There are no entry fees or handling fees for this year's festival.

The first ever Georgetown Independent Film Festival will present narrative, documentary, animation and experimental films, as well as live performances and random art happenings. Entries will not be juried and there will be no entry fee. The festival welcomes submissions from all countries, in all languages, shot on all formats.
