FMX 2011

Starts: May 03, 2011 - Ends: May 06, 2011
Location: Stuttgart, Germany
Website: http://www.fmx.de/

Program

FMX 2011 promises to be another exciting conference where industry professionals interested in Global Production, Visual Art and Innovative Technologies descend on Stuttgart for four days of networking, presentations, technical demonstrations, conference papers and recruiting events. We will present exciting trends that are taking place in the industry. Full program information will be available soon!

History

FMX was initiated as an event for students labeled "Film and Media Exchange" (FMX) in 1994 and was supposed to take place every two years. As early as 1996 it became an annual event already . When the first FMX took place in 1994, the industry did not even dare to dream about the creative possibilities within computer animation and digital effects that exist today. Throughout the past fifteen years of its existence, FMX kept up with the developments and trends and has grown to become an important networking platform for those working with digital imagery.

Submission Deadline: Nov 24, 2010

Created in 1999, Cartoon Movie is neither a fair nor a festival, but rather a co-production forum for European animated feature films. For two intense days, European producers have the opportunity to present their animation projects to all potential buyers in order to negotiate financing, to find partners and to interest distributors. All of this is happening in a very relaxed and convivial atmosphere… the human touch is the soul of Cartoon Movie!

The successful 2010 edition was attended by more than 630 participants from 32 countries, including 180 investors, of which 90 distributors. 51 feature film projects were pitched at the event, be they in concept, in development, in production or completed films.

The steady growth of stereoscopic 3D, the presentation of new films by well-known directors (Ari Folman, Patrice Leconte, Sylvain Chomet) and the high quality of the projects pitched were the highlights of this 12th edition. Have a look at the TV reports, the key facts or the pictures gallery.

The 12th edition will take place from Wednesday 2nd to Friday 4th March 2011 in Lyon (Rhône-Alpes, France).

UK / China Animation Forum

Starts: Dec 06, 2010 - Ends: Dec 07, 2010
Location: Beijing, China
Website: http://www.parameter.org.uk/

As part of an ongoing series of  initiatives joining UK and Chinese creative businesses – from a visit to Beijing and Shenzhen in May to hosting a Chinese Ministry of Commerce delegation last month in the UK – parameter is delighted to be producing:

Uk / China Animation Forum – 6 & 7th December, Beijing

China is now officially the second largest economy in the world and continues to grow, despite the global recession, at nearly 9% p.a.

The animation industry in China is also expanding fast and is viewed as representing a significant growth sector, attracting Government support at both national and regional levels through preferential taxation, industry funding and the establishment of industry parks..

Yet whilst a “service model” has generated inward investment into China through the provision of animation production pipelines to Western media and games production companies, the Chinese sector has been less successful in developing content propositions for export despite a massive increase in domestic production volumes in recent years.

The UK / China Animation Forum will explore the potential for trade and collaboration between the two countries, focusing on the opportunities for animated content – both on traditional platforms and emerging digital technologies. Specific market opportunities have been identified in the generation of IP which can be exploited across multiple platforms, including publishing and merchandising, and also for content which can be accessed via mobile devices.

A delegation of 10-15 UK digital animation companies will visit China and take part in the two-day UK / China Animation Forum. The Forum will include presentations, opportunities to display UK and Chinese animation work, panel discussions, networking events and one-to-one business meetings.
