The call for entries has commenced for the PopVox Awards, a people's choice awards event for the digital media industry. Super U Animation Contest

Beginning in September 2008, Super U and TAC.tv (a.k.a Tetes a claques) will be presenting quarterly animation contests. A jury, including TAC.tv creator Michel Beaudet will be awarding a prize for the best of the best at the end of August 2009. The winning film in the first round will get $2,500, be featured on www.TAC.tv and have the chance for broadcast on Super Channel. TAC.TV is former ad man Michel Beaudet's original Canadian production of Web-based short, animated clips. Through a unique combination of claymation and video that superimposes live action on dolls and clay, the absurdly funny storylines feature a wide cast of unforgettable characters. Since its launch in mid-August 2006, the website www.tac.tv has garnered 520 million page-views and attracts more than a million fans each month. Super U.ca is the online venue to watch the latest Canadian short films. Viewers enjoy high quality content, qualified by the viewers themselves. Filmmakers enjoy on-site contests and exposure to broadcasters like Super U's partner Super Channel, Canada's national pay television network. Nokia Mobifest Toronto 2009

Nokia Mobifest Toronto, Canada's premier made-for-mobile film festival, is now accepting submissions for its fourth annual event. Filmmakers -- from amateur to professional -- are invited to submit original films of 90 seconds or less for programming consideration. Entry is free and open to both local and International content creators, aged 18 or older. All genres are welcome and entrants may create and edit video using any equipment of their choice. Submissions will be accepted until 11:59pm EST on Monday, September 28th, 2009. Festival details and complete online submission instructions can be found at: www.mobifest.net. Set to culminate with a finalist screening in Toronto on November 3rd, all official selections will be eligible to win in one of three Nokia Mobifest Toronto award categories. The first award, Shot on Mobile, will go to the entry that best exemplifies compelling and creative content specifically shot using mobile technology. The festival's second award will be given out to the top Animation entry, and the final honour will be awarded to the winner of the prestigious Best of Festival category. An esteemed industry jury will select the award winners by screening each submission on a Nokia device.
