The International CES is center stage for the interaction of digital content, technology, media and delivery. More than 100,000 industry professionals-retailers, manufacturers, content providers, government leaders, corporate buyers, financial analysts and journalists are expected to attend the 2002 International CES.

The six-day conference will debut the results of the GSTA recently released Economic Impact Study, a comprehensive examination of the quantitative and qualitative factors that affect how large format films are produced, distributed and exhibited. The conference will also feature up to 12 new giant screen films and 4 short films and will introduce a nightly "wrap party" for attendees to network and expound on the events of the day. Other conference favorites will include Films-In-Development and Films-In-Progress, Technical Sessions, Roundtables, Developing Members Workshop, and the GSTA Achievement Awards.
The Giant Screen Theater Association is a nonprofit association dedicated to the worldwide growth of the large format film industry by supporting the developers and presenters of giant screen film experiences. Its goal is to be the global forum for producers, operators and suppliers of the large format film industry and to foster its growth and development in both the educational and commercial sectors.

The City of Glendale and Culture Commission is presenting an informal "Animation Brainstorming Session" to discuss how to best raise the profile of the animation industry, recognize the role of animation professionals locally, foster animation-based activities and events and create ways to strengthen the whole animation community. The event will take place on Wednesday, August 15 at 6:30 pm at the Brand Library and Art Center, 1601 West Mountain St. Glendale. Light refreshments will be served. Speakers from the fields of advertising, promotions, psychology, licensing, retail, research, publishing, consulting and more will motivate, inspire and educate with their knowledge and experience in the kids market. Designed to cover the topics that are most important to the kids marketer, APK will help in the ongoing challenge of reaching kids, tweens and teens. Sponsored by ASIFA Central, the conference features speakers who focus on various aspects of animation production. The emphasis for many of the presenters is the personal and artistic influences in their work. Another feature of the conference is screenings of various animations as well as open screenings for attendees to show their work. The winning student entry of the HVH World Peace Storyboard and Animation Competition is screened and the new winner is announced. The event is a great opportunity to meet kindred spirits, renew old acquaintances, make new contacts and recharge the creative batteries. The atmosphere is low-key and laid-back.

Advance registration is between October 1 and March 2. General admission is $75, $55 for students, and $50 for ASIFA members. Late registration is from March 2 through April 15. On-site registration is available based on availability. Lodging is seperate from the cost of admission.

On-site lodging is $99 per night for single to triple occupancy and $109 for four. Rooms are all suites with living room and kitchenette. Amenities include pool, fitness center, lounge and restaurants. Other lodging choices are available near the conference site. The conference is near major highways and airport. County forest preserves and the renowned Morton Arboretum are nearby.
