ANIMAGE festival  is open for applications until july 29th

Animation producers can apply for free to display their work for thousands of people in Brazil

The ANIMAGE - III International Festival of Animated Film of Pernambuco is open for applications until july 29th. The selected films will be exhibited for free to an estimated audience of 8.000 people from September 30th  to October 07th in Recife (PE), Northeast of Brazil.

Producers interested in attending to the event - from any country - can apply from the website www.animagefestival.com. The only cost to the exhibitor will be the shipping of  their material to Rec-Beat Artistic Productions, promoter of the festival, in Brazil. This year, the company has already received applications from 10 brazilian states and from countries such as Poland, Belgium and Chile.

The Competitive Exhibition will distribute cash prizes and trophies for the best films in four categories: Best Short, Best Short for Children, Best Brazilian Short Film and Best Film (audience choice). Will also be contemplated with the trophy Animage, movies that stand out in the categories Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Sound and Best Technique.

Besides the films, the event will offer lectures, roundtables  and a new round of  animation techniques workshops (the first round was in May this year). With the expansion of the exhibition venues this year, it is estimated that the public will have a  60% increase this year and reach the mark of 8.000 people.

Directed by Rec-Beat Artistic Productions, Centro Cultural Correios and the Federal Government of Brazil, the ANIMAGE is sponsored by Correios and Funcultura (fund for culture of the Government of the State of Pernambuco).

Fantoche International Animation Festival 2011

Posted In | Event Category: Animation, Features | Event Type: Competitive Festivals, Discussion, Screenings | Site Categories: Awards, Events, Films, Places, Technology
Starts: Sep 06, 2011 - Ends: Sep 11, 2011
Submission Deadline: May 31, 2011
Location: Baden, Switzerland
Website: http://www.fantoche.ch/2011/

The ninth Fantoche will be held in the town of Baden from September 6 to 11, 2011. The international show of animation film has become one of the world's most prominent animation festivals and is the only cultural event in Switzerland that is devoted exclusively to the full array of animation techniques, content and media

Fantoche is both a public festival and a meeting place for national and international experts. With its varied programme, it offers excellent entertainment for both young and old, with new things to discover and extravagance for animated-film fans and discussion and presentation forums for industry professionals from Switzerland and abroad.

Fantoche is just as refreshing, full of relish and lively as the indomitable scene, of which it is a part. It is infectious and creates an appetite for more. That’s why the previously biannual festival is becoming an annual event from this edition onwards.

Fantoche tracks down trends. With its international and Swiss short film competitions it searches for artistically daring ideas, young talent and the most prominent innovations worldwide. From the growing number of feature films produced, Fantoche selectively picks outstanding new releases and for the younger animated-film fans the latest children’s films are there to be gazed at.

At the same time Fantoche digs deeper and looks at individual aspects, themes or styles of animated film.

Fantoche looks beyond limits by building bridges to related art forms and dedicates itself to the use of animation in communication and entertainment media. In 2011 it will again venture into interactive realms and will be putting on show one of the arguably most creative interfaces between animation and computer games with an exhibition of independent games.

LATEST ANIMATION FILMS WANTED

Calling all film-makers – the “International Competition 2011” is open!

Fantoche is looking for the very best and most interesting short animated films from around the world. We are on the lookout for daring ideas, new pictures, surprising stories and ambitious projects by both newcomers and established film-makers.

The closing date for entries is 31 May 2011. The “International Competition” is open to films made applying all animation techniques, including a combination of live action and animation, lasting a maximum of forty minutes and completed after 31 March 2010. Films made by Swiss film-makers will also automatically be entered in the selection for the “Swiss Competition”.

Awaiting the films in the competition are seven prizes, worth a total of CHF 26'500, which will be awarded at the festival in September by a international jury of five members and by the public.
